Fair play, Mex.
We'll have this debate in ten years time when he's finished his career.
He'll need to be integral to a World Cup winning side to be seen in the same light as Xavi, though. This is how the greats are often defined along with their club career.
Xavi's been integral to 3. Good luck with that, Gundogan.
not while Jurgi Low keeps picking Khedira ahead of him
I'm hopelessly in love with Klopp.
People don't recall (or perhaps don't know) how good Xavi was when he was young, presumably because of the dysfunctional Barça side he played in. At 19 he led Spain to their one and only U-20 World Cup and was chosen Liga breakthrough player of the year.
I think he has the talent, Sideshow. Many small players have been a success here. He's also bloody rapid!
He's gonna be one of the stars of European football in my opinion.
There's loads of hype around El Shar, but I see more potential in Insigne.
Mex, IOAG is here to back me up about Xavi. You ain't got a chance now.
I haven't seen enough of Gundogan to write him off though.
look im as in love with Xavi as you, he's amazing, the best midfielder of his generation, i just think Gundogan can match him in the next 10 years, as long as he gets his next move right
Mex enjoyed watching Football Italia as a boy
On Xavi, nowadays he looks like a passenger at times. I remember Pirlo having a stinker of a season at Milan before he went to Juve and Zidane having a stinker of a season before the '06 World Cup.
I'm convinced this means Xavi will be imperial at the World Cup next year and then join us.
i loved it, Golllllllllllllaaacccciiooooooo
then later when it moved to channel 5 with the delectable Laura Esposito

I love Xavi too much to even entertain the thought.
It's an interesting theory about Xavi. You could be right. He looked knackered at the confeds.
I think Barca will probably play him less this season which will keep him fresher for the World Cup.
A fresh and motivated Xavi is still the best midfielder in planet earth and with it being his last World Cup we could have shades of Zidane, minus the head but.
i would say that currently Arturo Vidal is the best CM in the world right now

Gundogan is the next Sahin, Mex.
not even you believe that Dazza
Nah I'm a massive fan of Gundogan. I'm just trying to wind you up.
Sahin is an odd one. He's really bombed since leaving Dortmund. I wonder if he'll play an important role this season?
he's started all the games this season since Gundogan got injured, i have a feeling Gundogan might replace Gotze as the no10 and Kuba might be dropped to the bench, Gundogan was outstanding against Bayern in the super cup win
-------------------------Bender------Sahin-----------------------
Aubameyang--------------Gundi---------------------Reus
Ahh ok that'd be interesting to see.
Didn't Gundogan start out as an attacking mid but move further back? I've not seen him play in that advance role. He's exceptional in the deeper one though.
Germany really do have ridiculous strength in midfield, it would be difficult picking their best team
they lack a world class CF though
----------------------------------Neuer--------------------------------
Lahm-----------Hummels--------------Boateng------------Schmelzer
-------------------Schweini----------------Gundogan--------------
Muller--------------------------Ozil------------------------Reus

no Goetze
Goetze's looked crap for Bayern when I've seen him.
It's so funny winding up Stretford about Rooney. He just cannot take it.
