Fabregas was silent because he wanted to stay, but Rooney is staying silent because he wants to leave.

Strange how people interpret situations to suit.

I do it all the time.

Listening to the show now. Neville makes a good point.

October we were 6 points behind Chelsea, went to Stamford Bridge, could have been 9 points if we lost, Rooney puts in a 9/10 performance up front and in midfield, the week after he man marks Arteta.

Last season he won us 11 points.

Lets not have selective memories.

As I have said twice, he didn't specifically say that we should get Bale, he said that we would have to replace Rooney with a big player, like Bale or Ronaldo. The point being that the team would be missing a big player whose void would have to be filled and could only be done so by a very talented player. Not sure why you are struggling with that point so much. Did you watch the whole show?

no....i didn't catch the show....i'm basing my points on the post on here..

If you are really interested in the topic rather than just looking for an excuse to have a dig at United/Neville, stop being so lazy and do some research of your own. You are sat in front a computer. Its not difficult.

Sir Alex

'He asked for a transfer, I think he wants to think it through in his mind which is a good idea but we are not going to let him go'

David Moyes

'I don't know if I have been speaking double dutch or something. Wayne Rooney is not for sale. He's a Manchester United player and will remain a Manchester United player'

Wayne Rooney

'Gutted to be missing the Pre-season tour'

David Moyes.

'Wayne has come back fit and is training brilliantly. The other players tell me it's the fittest he's been in ages.'

Vidic

'This is the fittest Wayne has been in 5 years'

David Moyes

“Overall, my thought on Wayne is, if for any reasons we had an injury to Robin van Persie, we’ll need him,” said Moyes. “Wayne can play up on his own, he can play dropped in. It’s going to be a time to see how I work with Wayne'

Someone else can do all the press stories

I am sure MUDD that you wouldn't boo any player as that would be counter-productive but I understand those who want him gone. I am not one of them at the moment though because I don't know the full picture in which to make a complete judgement. I'd rather wait and let the whole facts come in first.

There's another issue here too in my opinion that nobody seems to have mentioned yet

If Sir Alex was still the manager and he had categorically stated, like Moyes has, that Wayne Rooney is not for sale, then I do not think for one minute that Mourinho would be bidding. Purely out of respect for Sir Alex. At the very least he would have texted Sir Alex to see what the crack was first

Moyes isn't getting the same respect Sir Alex would have got from Mourinho and no way should United let Mourinho show Moyes who the new Daddy is around here.

The best statement United could make is to tell Mourinho to fek off, not sell him our best player

Good point Macca with the respect thing. Maybe Mourinho doesnt want Rooney at all.. Maybe not yet anyway. Planting the seeds for a transfer at a later date maybe?

I'm sure he wants him now MrC but he had to much respect for Sir Alex to have done this if he'd still been the boss

In 2010, I remember Mourinho waiting with baited breath wondering what was going to happen but he did say he expected Roo to stay at United. He didn't bother putting a bid in then but now Sir Alex has gone, he pounces

It will make United and Moyes look so bloody weak if Mourinho gets his man.

I remember that interview very well. He was speaking with some sort of certainty that Rooney would stay.

I dare say José is a bit peeved at not getting the UTD job too.

posted on 9/8/13

Maybe... but from what Jose has actually said, he only wanted the Chelsea job. Its the media and the fans who put two and two together and assumed he would be Fergie's replacement.

Come off it MrC. The media never lie

Macca. If we're gna only go by what players and managers say then fair enough. I dont think the media make up everything. I think Jose would have wanted the Utd job but from what he actually said in print, he only wanted the Chelsea job. Same with what you've just said with Rooney. Everything that has been printed in black and white points to Rooney staying and Utd not selling but what the media have been writing is Rooney is an unhappy figure at Utd and become disillusioned and on the verge of handing in a tfr request. Best thing to do is not believe every single quote by players and managers as gospel but at the same time dont believe too much of what the media write.

posted on 9/8/13

Wouldn't argue that MrC

For me, it's blatantly obvious why the press say what they do. They print a story and hope it happens so they can say they were the first to break the story so how good are they

Roo is supposed to have handed in a transfer request officially this week. Up to yesterday, he was just turning up to training trying to get fit.

What made me laugh is him training with the reserves yesterday and bang, the press were jumping all over themselves saying 'Rooney forced to rain with the reserves' Guessing obviously. Only to be left with egg on their faces along with the fans who believed it

They must have been gutted when they learned the truth that Roo was just stepping up his training by personal choice to get fit for the start of the season.

1. If you don't care about United, why are you getting you knickers in a twist over us?

2. I have explained this several times to you, but you don't seem to be able to process it. Neville held Bale AND Ronaldo up as the calibre of player we would need to sign to replace Rooney.

3. I didn't put any of the article up - I'm not the op. It is you that needs to familiarise yourself with the whole details and context, not me. I suggest you go enlighten yourself.

I think that there is a good chance the Jose is just trying to unsettle Rooney/United/Moyes. That's not to say that he doesn't want Rooney, but I expect he knows deep down that we will never sell him to Chelsea. But he is just trying to cause some problems at the club and derail the start of the season.

Would certainly explain the insulting offers

No way would Mourinho have done this with Sir Alex at the helm

Lets face it, they spent 50m on Torres, who is an inferior player. They have set their own precedent and if they want Rooney it will cost 60m. Even then I don't see us selling Rooney to another top PL team. I reckon that selling them Rooney would pretty much hand them the title.

This.

I would also happily tell them this in the media.
