Can I just remind people that we didn't play that terribly against Everton. We made loads of chances and hit the woodwork twice. The game could have gone eitherway.

Against Newcastle however we were atrocious and got what we deserved.

Robb - I think you want to believe Fellaini is good and are looking for things that aren't there.

I know why it's because we have nothing else other than Carrick who is 32 so hardly spring chicken.

That game will long live in my memory, we had 30 mins to get a goal but didn't test the keeper ONCE in final 30 odd minutes and couldn't get ball off Newcastle for most of final half hour.

I was ashamed of the players they made no effort at all.

As far as I can remember Fellaini has had one good half in the home tie with Leverkusen. He has been poor in his other games, no two ways about it.

And for the record, people are not writing Fellaini off after three games. This is not a Veron/Berba situatuon where an immensely talented player is for some reason not fitting in. It's not a Nani/Anderson situation where a young talent is struggling to find their feet (3/4 years ago this was the case anyway - I think most have rightfully given up on both now).

This guy was at Everyon for years, and when he played in MIDFIELD (not behind the striker), he's did nothing to suggest he is a United player.

I hate writing a new signing off this early, but I'll call it as I see it, I'll be shocked if this guy is ever a regular in our midfield.

we probably would have comfortably had a point at least vs Everton had our DM sat in front of our defence and protected them, rather than chasing the ball round the pitch for 90 minutes occasionally winning a few tackles.

The job of the holding midfielder to me, is to leave as little possible gap between yourself and the CB's so as not to leave them exposed, particularly against a side like Everton who have midfielders who run with ball, like Barkley did, everytime the ball got past Fellaini, he had 25 yards of space to run into, most of the time Giggs was our deepest midfielder

I don't know what people expected of Fellaini against Everton.

Giggs went AWOL in CM and left Fellaini to deal with Barkley, Pienaar and Mirallas on his own when they broke after we inevitably lost the ball in the final third.

Even being on his own Fellaini did stop a lot of what Everton threw at us.

Put someone like Jones or Fletcher in CM next to him and he'll have far less work to deal with.

He played well against Leverkusen, was good against Sociedad, played well in the ones half he had against Fulham and was good against Everton.

Yes, he was bad against City but all our players bar Rooney were.

it wasnt Giggs that went AWOL it was Fellaini, he was chasing the ball all over the pitch, Giggs was deeper than Fellaini most of the time, he was pants

Amazing. You blame Fellaini for us losing against Everton but you don't mention Welbeck missing an open goal from 3 yards or all our other chances?

Like I said......I was at both of those games as usual and depsite us losing both by same score line, the Everton game could have gone either way. They played well true, but we did too at times. We got in behind them just as much as they did to us. And we were unlucky to hit woodwork twice.

Against Newcaslte, I was FAR FAR more concerned. We never looked like scoring all game.

read the first thing i replied to you about, i said he was far from the worst player vs Everton, he was still poor, Welbeck was dog shít and was the worst player on the pitch

Lets be honest fellas. Any game we lose or draw will result in the likes of young and fellaini getting beef.

It just is the done thing it seems, and also it ''protects'' and takes attention away from the likes of rooney who missed sitters

Let's all just agree that Fellaini needs to improve A LOT

At moment even when fit he isn't good enough to start ahead of Jones in CM and that says it all for me.

That's the problem with this team. When one player or part of the team plays well, others are utter shiiiite.

We're not consistent enough. Not enough players are doing it week in week out.

posted on 31/12/13

I most certainly don't think Fellaini has played his best for us. Of course he can improve but I just think anyone that writes him off now is doing him a disservice.

VCD he has to be given reasonable time to improve

i wrote him off before he signed for us, but you know me robb, if he plays well i'll say so, like he did vs Leverkusen and he was decent vs Sociedad(in fact his better performances have all come in the CL) i just dont rate the bloke, i dont dislike him, i just dont rate him at all, and he's done diddly squat to show he'll be good enough for united so far

VCD

I agree. He's not been good enough. And he's out for next month or so now anyway so it's not really relevant.

I'm just not giving up on him yet. That's not to say he's going to turn it around. He might not. It's not that impossible to suggest he might though.

Many will not rememeber this but back on the old 606 boards, Vidic and Evra were slaughtered in that first 5 months when they joined. Absolutely murdered. They turned out okay in the end. Fellaini might well be same.

I don't want to give up on him either, however I just don't see him as a Utd player.

He is too slow and doesn't have ability needed.

But I will of course give him chance, he hasn't had enough time yet.

posted on 31/12/13

i'll give him time, but i reserve the right to criticise him when he's crap, which he has been, if he'd been good there wouldnt be any arguments about him
