Jones and Smalling are fantastic replacements. I wouldn't be worried if i were them.

Being nice today

yep. with jones and smalling at the back and marvin de gaye in goal, they will be vulnerable.

Mr chelsea you're wrong

In some ways yes some ways no.

Smalling, Jones and Evans have there chance to shine and there'e no doubting they have huge ability.

The ch!nk in Utd's current armor is De Gea

and Evra and Rafael are out, sou your only fit defenders are Jones, Smalling, Fabio and Evans

The world is vulnerable whilst Vidic is injured.

ferdinand's face when de gaye let in that goal on sunday

De gea is actually a brilliant keeper. I think he's just struggling. Young boy just left his family and friends, doesn't speak the language. Still a massive talent.

Their problem is that their full-backs are missing too, meaning Evans has to play. If it were Jones & Smalling as the CB pair they'd have no concerns.

United are class with or without Vidic and especially Rio. Fantastic replacement in Smalling. Dunno about Jones though.

Evra who will be back for Spurs (left back)

Smalling and Jones/Evans (2 centre halves)

Fabio (right back)

No problems with that defense!

Personally I don't united are vulnerable without ferdi and vidic. Smalling, jones or evans are very capable replacements.

Jones and Smalling are excellent players but they lack the experience of playing together and they lack the experience of playing in front of a new keeper who is clearly low on confidence. They also lack the experience of handling the pressure of playing for a big club.

This is definitely the right time to be playing United and Spurs may cause an upset.

The problem is is spurs beat United then Modric will start to believe they can finish top 4.

I actually think Jones will become the better defender out of him and smalling. Either way that Englands future CB's for the next few years. Not quite as good as David Weir and gary Caldwell that we have but you can't have everything

So playing together for England doesnt count then?

Smalling played in some huge games in the Premier League and Champions League last season.

Jones is regarded as a future England captain.

The keeper, at present is the only worry.

Smalling doesn't lack experience of handling the pressure of playing for a big club. He's been at united for a year now and played in some big games and came through them unscathed and enhanced his reputation.

Doesnt matter, your original point was they lack experience of playing together.

They were playing side by side for the 21's in the summer.

You're a wee bit of a condescending pedantic <PRICK> aren't you. Why can't you see that they have two of the best young center backs in the world. Both with Premier league experience and both already played for their country. They have been training together as well and you have no idea the understanding they could have established in that time.

That's not what you said, you said he lacked the experience of playing for a big club. Which he doesn't.

U21,s means nothing.

They don't have experience playing together as lead CB's for United in front of a goalkeeper who lacks confidence.

That's what matters!

If you think they will just step in and do as well as Ferdinand and Vidic, then why are they not first choice for the team?
