Are Utd vulnerable without Ferd & Vidic

Whilst the result was quite spectacular, Utd's defence still conceded 2 goals, at home. So i'm not sure you can take positives from the defence side of the result.

We conceded two at home against wba last season with vidic, ferdi and vds, so what's the problem?

Defense fell asleep on account of us scoring 8 plus ten goal difference and top of the league I could care less that we let in 2. Chicken is a basket case.

Couldn't care less even, arsenal still had experienced attackers... if we win every game 8-2 I will be a tad happy.

Not very professional is it?

™ju§t,

I'm not suggesting there is a problem, i'm just not sure any defender in the world would be happy with letting in 2 goals, whatever the result at the final whistle.

I doubt they even gave it a thought probably thinking more about what a great game it was and how much they enjoyed it

Chicken do you think modric should have played yesterday?

posted on 29/8/11

He should have played Saturday against Norwich

Don't think spurs played against norwich, I'm sure it was city

Did Spurs actually play?

They played their part

Sir Alex said they lost concentration in the post match interview. Totally understandable. Our second string defense is as good as anyone else's in that league. It was a very solid performance against spurs. When it mattered a bit more. Keep clutching at straws if you want I guess city must be upset they conceded one against spurs on that logic.

ju§t,

Yes i do think Modric should have started. Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

Giggs,

You seem to be taking this a bit too personally. I'm not sure what City conceding a goal against Spurs has to do with whether Utd are weaker without Rio & Vidic.

Regardless of a goal rout, i still think the Utd defence will be disappointed with conceding 2 goals.

posted on 30/8/11

I wasn't thinking of the result or how the game went with modric just wondered what you thought about him asking not to play and whether you thought it was a good idea to still make him play no matter how the game went

ju§t,

I dont really know. I dont know what conversation took place. Did he say he didnt want to play, or he didn't feel right? Without knowing, i cant say 100% what Harry should have done.

The problem we had/have is, Sandro is out injured, Livermore is still learning, i believe Huds is still carrying a slight knock, Jenas is injured & Palacios is off to Stoke, so i'm not sure Harry was left with much choice. Is a half-hearted Modric better than the next option? Its a tough one to be honest.

True, I guess all you can do is stick him in and hope he's professional enough to give it his best

I am sure they would be disappointed with the 2 goals... as they are professional and Sir Alex strives for that. But the article is based on subjective material, thus far it can't be proved or disproved united are weaker without Vidic and Rio. All that could be said is that the difference is not enough to tell, therefore it is easy to conclude the side is not weaker at this time. It's all trivial, really as it can't be measured in a fair or controlled manner.

What the bloody hell are you going on about?

This is a forum, a debating website. As such, we dont need to measure anything in a fair & controlled manner. We're not a bomb disposal unit, we're football fans.

Jeeeeeeeez.

Well, no I wouldn't think for one moment that you were capable of that, or anything much really. So there we go then united's defenders, all 7 of them are fantastic, every one virtually as sting as the next. So again the answer to the article is obviously no, they are not weaker. Which is what I have said all along.

Every one virtually as strong as the next even.

Ooh, all 8 we have so many I forgot to count Rio.... silly me. Sorry don't mean to make you jealous, that spurs team not really blessed in that area are they. Couldn't afford cahill... what is it with these north London clubs and not wanting good defenders?

I'm not sure why you're trying to turn this into a Man Utd versus Spurs debate. I dont think even the most biased Spurs fan would argue that United have a better defence.

Although i'm very flattered you felt the need to post 3 comments on the trot, sweetcheeks.

And midfield, strikers, manager, heck arguably even Goalkeepers

Do you mean as a whole or individual players? the answer to this would be no & yes, respectively.
