In those days a visit to Anfield was a grim experience, often met with bricks and other 'unsavoury' objects being hurled at you and a return journey hampered by a car now devoid of wheels.
Nothing changed then
All well in saying that but what about when the shoe is on the other foot?
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2612116/John-Terry-embodies-Chelsea-captain-crass-little-regard-sportsmanship.html
Now personally I have no animosity towards Chelsea as a club but there is a slight bad taste in the mouth when Mourinho is there. You can't deny he loves to take digs at the club and still can't get rid of that bitter feeling from the 2005 ghost goal. Also the way the fans treated Rafa after bearing a grudge for so long was in poor taste.
I posted this earlier -
SOME of the supporters' attitude and sense of entitlement.
The club, although now a franchise, is steeped in tradition and seems to me, as is Everton, a club of the people, the people of the city. Any true scouser with an affiliation to the city or roots nearby will always have my respect. You have to respect what the club have achieved over the years and what you have been through also.
But as with all big clubs, Liverpool have amassed a vast following of plastic glory hunting supporters during their hay days in the 70s and 80s who have no identity with the City, the people or the area. These same fans sit on forums spouting off about history, tradition, the town and the people like they know what being a scouser is all about. You can tell who they are as well. It oozes from their posts. They may have been to a few games but don't understand what being a local lad is. Or the culture. Or the demands of being a true match going supporter. We have had plenty of these since Ambramovich. Nothing wrong with supporting an adopted club at the time they were the dominant face of the game, thats what kids did and still do. But dont try and come off as superior as alot of them do, because most of you arent the real deal. The ones who aren't out shouting about history, how great you are, how much bigger your club is, what brilliant football you play, etc etc are the ones who I really listen to. They know. They don't need to tell everyone. They are in it for love, not the glory.
Unfortunately, when you look at the articles on your board over the last few months and then compare them to other teams, you will see what im talking about. Real supporters wont be offended by what I say and will probably agree.

That is quite interesting to use the term unsporting for John Terry.
As Xavi said "After we defeated Chelsea in the last minute at SB, John Terry came into the dressing room and shook every player's hand".

"if you grew up in the 1970's you became sick of Liverpool winning at home and in Europe whilst we languished in mediocrity."
Oh, Ok, it's just jealousy then.
Utd fans only hate the scousers because of deep seated jealousy by being in their shadow in the 70s
We don't give a toss

They tell us we have history every time we play them.
PPLF has summed it up.
As if a visit to Chelsea in the 70's would have been any more appetising in terms of the threat of violence
The only difference was that it was would have been accompanied by taking away 3 pts more often than not.
Besides, the author of that article is 47, meaning that in the 70's he would have been anything from 3 to 13. I am guessing his visits to Anfield were pretty infrequent
Terrible article, no surprise given where it was found.

There's no sense of entitlement and victim mentality at Liverpool,
You'll see that when all the games on the last day of the season kick off 40 minutes late due to it falling on the anniversary of the Bradford Stadium fire.

Is this first time it has been recognised in such a way?

No chance, he is a first class pr-ck!
Back passes and the penalty 'corridor'
Don't mind them winning it though. It's a blip not a dynasty.
Plastics from the 70s and 80s who can't even point out Liverpool on a map. I detest them coming on forums lecturing other fans. Pseudo supporters.

same can be said of any club whiewall and youre taking whats written on a forum like this way too seriously.
The anonymity the internet provides makes people that bit more agressive in defending their teams, or over hyping their team doing well, you cannot use this site as the baromoter of a fan base, to do so is ridiculous.
Plus, and maybe its cause im a liverpool fan but i dont see your argument that there have been a plethora of these articles you describe, to me it looks like a very happy set of fans expressing their delight at a season no one expected.
Your dislike of lfc clouds your judgement as you instantly take a dislike to an article that is lfc related. Of course you can agrue saying its my bias that makes me not see what youre describing but thats how i see it.
I do agree that you get fans of clubs who dont go to games and are not from the city being very vocal and for me a proper fan goes to games and shows their support that way.
Like im irish from dublin, been a lfc fan since i was a kid, i dont remember our last title win really my earliest memories were watching roi in eurp 88 and italia 90. I began to follow lfc cause ronnie whelan played for roi and scored this amazing scissor kick v ussr, he was from dublin like me and played for lfc and that got me into them but i really only began to follow lfc properly when i was about 13 or 14 and fowler and mcmanaman were my favourite players.
But ive been to anfield well over 50 times, was at every cl game in 07 home and away including the final we lost, id argue im as big a red as many fans from the city.
