Barnes, Aldridge, Beardsley, Houghton, Barry Venison
=================================================
Chelsea wanted to buy Aldridge and Houghton from Oxford United? Are you sure?
These transfers are mostly from around 1987, when we also hoovered up big names like Alan Irvine, Jim Magilton and Brian Mooney.
Other players transferred that year (but not to Liverpool) were Martin Keown, Paul Mariner, Tony Woodcock, Mark Hughes, Dean Saunders, David Seaman, Liam Brady, Tony Parks, Peter Barnes, Vinny Jones.....
Are you sure these were just the scraps left over from Aldridge, Houghton, etc.?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No and I didn't imply that, Oxford Utd won the league cup in 1986 when it was important. Aldridge & Houghton were hot property. Why did you spend a comparative fortune on them? It wasn't like getting Rush from Chester.
We did steal Joey Jones from Liverpool
Why couldn't they steal him back?

If they want to worship him then good luck to them, but don't tell us that we have to also.
What we think (or not) about OUR managers is OUR business and what makes them think that we have to follow them parrot-fashion and idolise one of their heroes
=========================================================
Who told you that you had to?
I'm guessing it was somebody trying to wind you up (sucessfully, by the sounds of it).
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You lot are often trying to preach to other people about what they are supposed to think when it doesn't match your views. So don't come the old innocent that it's some new sort of concept that's never been mooted. If you admire him then bully for you but we'll just keep our own independent thoughts on him if its all the same to you.
I think it is fair to say, with the execption of Joe Cole, they have had the better of us inter club transfers
Oh yeah, how could I forget they sold us Torres! If that isn't enough to hate them I don't know what is.
Gatwick to Cancun last minute deal. £260 on Monday. I might go if we lose to the magnanimous Redmen on Sunday.
I tried to be agreeable but they are absolute turds.
Make sure you can watch the 2nd leg in a sports bar out there

I've discussed Rafa, but only on the Liverpool board, so It's never been mooted by me, I couldn't give a monkey's.
But happy to oblige, with regards to your independent thoughts.

I meant even further back than those, Steve McMahon, John Wark, Mark Lawrenson, Alan Kennedy, Gream Souness, Terry McDermott, Ray Kennedy, Craig Johnstone, Phil Borsma not forgetting Kenny Dalglish were all top players for their clubs until Liverpool came knocking!

Wessie thanks for allowing me to have my own opinions
Craig Johnstone and Phil Boersma? I don't think so.

My bad, memories playing trick over Boersma but Boro fans may disagree with you over Johnstone!

Of course Bro. Would never dream of missing it. Chelsea shut out. Make the hate grow.
I'm at a loose end and was gonna go to Brasil for world cup but my girl in Salvador says it's pretty grim. Strikes/Violence/Anger. It's pretty much a 3 day week. Can't imagine big screen samba parties
Listening to the radio, SA correspondent, Vickery got
mugged at gun point in broad daylight in the semi-posh part of Salvador. I've been to Salvador and it's pretty bad at the best of times.
Any world travellers got any views? It will cost me about £800 to get there but after that it's just booze and living expenses.
Advice?

My Dad is a right old Gooner and he always pulls out the blank contract, double your wages deal offered to Ray Kennedy. Liverpool always paid the most.
If you end up in Rio, don't go out without anything you're not prepared to loose.
I've been there a few times with Her Majesties finest and many of our ships company were robbed at Knife/gunpoint on Coppacobanna.
Even in Forteleza two of my mates were robbed right outside the dockyard gates in broad day light. The one robber, aged 15, was shot by local police but the other got away with their wallets and cameras.
It was nearly as bad as Liverpool!

That doesn't create a rivalry. Like I've said previously, Chelsea fans seems to care more about Liverpool that Liverpool fans do about Chelsea
--------------------------------------------------
I think 'Care' might be the wrong choice of word
TBH, I've never considered Liverpool a rival in the usual sense of the word, any more than I would Newcastle, Man Utd or Everton!

Arsenal were in the process of breaking up their double-winning side, and Mee thought Kennedy had a weight problem. He was signed just after Shankly resigned, and before Paisley took over, so it was said to be the chairman who bought him, simply because he was available.
I don't know how your Dad knows what Liverpool paid their players, I don't think that kind of thing ever got publicised, in those days. And my Dad knows more than your Dad.
I've no doubt that the clubs with the biggest revenues paid the highest wages, but I've never seen anything that suggested Liverpool paid the most (in fact, I'd be very surprised if they paid more than United, whose revenues would have been higher even then).

Nah, Salvador or maybe Sao Paulo. Not Rio. I have no plans to ever go to Scouse or Mancland. I suppose you have to for your job though. Just don't breathe in.
I want to watch the WC with non ingles. Argentina? Do they hate us?
Russia and Qatar are write offs and the WC won't exist/I'll be dead after that. Shoulda gone to France or Germany.
