One of my mates in a larger company is still at work because most of their staff would be unable to work from home, so the company is letting them wear their own clothes to "boost morale"

Brilliant
Whos clothes do they wear normally?

Going to try using the push along strimmer later, although I've developed a cough and tight chest this morning..

-----------------

Yep, played cricket in the garden with the kids yesterday and was genuinely short of breath with a dry cough. No temp which is the only thing that I am clinging on to in terms of me not having it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
But if you are fit and well then you might not have all the symptoms?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not how this shiiiit thing works dude, people will be affected to different levels dependant on their health, age etc.

And he might not even have covid, even so, government guidelines is that anyone who coughs more than 3 times in a day should self isolate.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
any smoker will already cough that amount anyway
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Nonsense. I smoke and don't cough.

It was just wishful thinking from them. It was obvious they weren't going to start a new season until this one ended.

In the office still
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That surely gotta change by COP Friday
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Fvck knows. I'm past caring now tbh. I've already told my parents I won't meet them at the weekend and not to come to Nottingham. I take precautions but still had a pint last night. Washed my hands, etc, before entering and after leaving.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Madness you are still in an office mate
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Considering two people have blatantly had the symptoms yes. I've not had any tbf but does that mean anything? Nope.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yep we have 2 guys confirmed now too. We just had a huge barney with our boss, as we're the only dept that is still fully staffed despite the director saying on friday we can work from home. Idiot still doesn't understand the reasons for us not being in the office. So we decided we're doing 2 days at a time from home (there's 4 of us, so 2 "in", 2 out" )

Went to Asda earlier, it's still mental. Managed to get thr milk and potatoes I needed.

Cereal aisle was wiped out though..

Checkouts all rammed. People with two trophies,.. That Blizzard song - "I wish it could be Christmas everyday"

Well this is what it looks like.. totally nuts.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I keep posting it but..

80% of our supermarket food comes from abroad,

We can only produce 60% of what we need in this country.

If anyone thinks Spain, Italy and the rest of Europe that props us up are

A) Still producing at capacity
B) prioritizing exports to us

Then they need to give their head a wobble.. Supermarket shelves aren't just empty because of *panic buyers* there is a reason stock markets are through the floor, productivity is fecked.

Of course they are.

If people weren't panic buying, there would be stock. Supermarkets have now had to increase their orders, due to this. Before the panic buying, they wouldn't have had to do that.

That's not to say that in future, your two points wouldn't become reality but certainly we're not at that point yet.

I've been making a fuss about it everyday for about 3 months now lol.

Now that covoid19 has hit the scene and there's a real possibility that everyone will have to work from home so now they're on a drive to go paperless and also get laptops for as many employees as possible

There's also a workflow process in the pipeline. Took them 20+ years for all of this

Only God knows how they were turning out profits all these years working like cavemen.

No they aren't, it's a minor reduction at the moment but most of our food supplies are just in time connections and these countries are rightly prioritizing their own and their neighbours.

We took the decision to distance ourselves from Europe, any supermarket worker will tell you they aren't getting the same levels of stock in.

I understand a desire to stop panic, but the government could be heading some issues off by urging people to do a bit of growing at home.

Are they pharma?
The reason I ask is because they are about 20 years behind everyone else for things like this.

A few years ago I worked for a different multi national global pharma company who had an ERP system but still done their production planning in Excel

I'm not sure people stacking shelves know much about this to be honest but supermarkets have increased their orders and increased lorries and hours of drivers, in order to get more stock in. The government has been working with them on this.

We're just not at that point where people need to be worrying about running out of goods, IF people wouldn't stop being selfish and panic buying.

Of course shelf stockers see the stock coming in, in many chains like morrisons they still order it...

At its peak 1 in 6 will be off, it's already about 1 in 20,

Add to that we wasted a lot of crops in this country last year due to a lack of pickers and we will be in trouble sooner than expected, ive started securing our fences already

Yes they see it coming in but they don't see the plans in place. The plans in place were to increase orders, lorries and drivers in order to get the stock in to replace the stock the selfish idiots have taken. The government is working with them on this, relaxing rules. People stacking shelves won't see this.

If selfish idiots didn't raid the shelves, everybody would have everything. There is no shortage due to not enough to go around, there is a shortage due to selfish idiots taking more than they need and stocking up for something which would be months away, if it even does occur. The supermarkets didn't foresee this and therefore didn't up their orders, which they have now done.
