A CB that can play LB would be a great signing for now and in the future, especially with VVD's contract in the air.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Who though?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'd have liked Hiroki Ito, but I didn't realise he signed for Bayern and has been injured since.

Colwill is an obvious option if Chelsea can be tempted to sell especially as he's home grown, another option would be Inacio or Piero Hincapie.

Jorrel Hato from Ajax we have been linked to. He is just 18 and played 80 times already. He plays both LCB and LB for Ajax but I will let Boca tell us if he is any good with his Dutch league knowledge.

Lukeba and Hato would be the 2 options for me. Kerkez for left back.

Personally, I think Robbo's poor form has been slightly overstated.

I suspect that's for 2 reasons - firstly the rest of the team have been really, really good. I wouldn't argue that of the first 11-15 players, he's probably been the weakest performer. Or at least competing with Nunez for that dubious honour!

Second reason is his stinkers have been high profile, The Fulham game primarily, he cost us that day and I think that intensified the spotlight on him. But he was poor against Arsenal as well.

For balance, he's also had really good games imo. Real Madrid for example. He was good against City.

He's clearly coming to the tail end of his Liverpool career and I'd agree that we should be looking to the future and a new LB in the summer. I just think that talk of him being a liability and costing us the league is too much. He's played almost all our EPL games and we're sat top with 46 points at the mid-point. He can't be that bad!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If his bad games have been high profile as you put it and have cost us points, then he’s a liability. The balance is becoming too far tilted towards the negative for me, too many mistakes and poor positioning outweighs the positive contributions, which if we’re being really honest are way down on what we’re used to.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Sure, if you want to ignore the positive performances (some of which have been high profile also) and his overall contribution to the team - then you could label him a liability.

The second part of your comment I do agree with - it's about a balance of contributions. For you that's slipped into the negative which is fair enough. Personally I think he's still in the positive. Not comfortably in the positive but enough for me to be happy to persist with him over Tsimi who I just think is a limited footballer.

Definitely a position I would like to see looked at in the summer though.

I do agree that Tsimikas isn’t really much, if any, of an upgrade. I think the best way to describe it is that I find it uncomfortable/painful watching Robbo play these days. It wasn’t long ago that you weren’t worried about him being attacked down his side because he was so solid, he’s nowhere near that now imo.

Yeah I think a few weeks ago I wouldn’t have cared putting the 2nd team out for Spurs but seeing as it’s a semi final and we can literally play the kids against Accrington, we might aswell play the big hitters.

In a way we could try and finish the tie tomorrow night if we score 6 again but will be difficult if Szobo is out. He was magnificent at Tottenham Stadium.

Robbo sticks out because we know our team are conceding very few chances, the eye and the stats bear this out. Robbo had a stretch of giving away penalties, getting sent-off and other blunders so it's natural he sticks out. In between that stretch I think he got a MotM in a CL away game which is funny

My view has cooled recently and I just think he probably need a bit more rest than before, so if that means Tsimi getting minutes that's fine with me. At least Tsimi can take a good corner...

I reckon we can get another couple of years out of Robbo. Bring in his understudy now or in summer.

Hato is a similar player to Timber. He is quick, aggressive and good on the ball but sometimes rash. The negative is he is too short to play as a CB in the PL. I think he would do well in this system whereby the LB is asked to be the third CB in the build up play.

yeah he's 5ft11/6ft. Same height as Murilo and Lukeba but they have leap on them so shortness is not noticed as much.

posted 18 hours, 16 minutes ago

Seems a bit mad that 6ft is considered short, Evan for a CB.

I used to play CB and am 5’10 and never considered myself too short! Imagine how Fred and Pranks must feel

Liverpool could have a run at Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez after the Cherries confirmed the signing of Julio Soler from Lanus.

Was mentioned earlier. Hopefully it’s a sign that they’ve signed him to bed him in second half of the season, and that Kerkez is coming in the summer.
