Almost as if he’s told to stay up top isn’t it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Possibly, but does that mean not putting in a defensive shift? Even strikers need to stay up but still need to defend in their position. Furthermore, players can also look for themselves and see how the game is going and adjust accordingly?

Anyway, the right side is clearly our weakest as teams keep targeting that side. I'm just trying to dissect the machinations behind that.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah it is by design so we can get Salah on transition where he is the best in the world at it and that is the reason why Konate plays right back practically as this is our system but saying that yesterday we asked too much from Konate coming back from an injury.

Slot could have made a simple switch where he moved Diaz to the right and Salah in as false 9 for 10 mins.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Or Salah could have just helped out. I have no problem with Salah staying up if we account for it. We have Salah out there staying up and TAA behind him and inverting leaving a lacuna there, then having Grav or Konate coming across to put out the inevitable fire. Sounds like a recipe for defensive disaster and therefore no surprise the better or more organized teams are hurting us down that side.

If Salah stays up, shouldn't TAA at least play regular right back? Let Grav or another midfielder be the one helping Salah more, while TAA has the game in front of him pinging balls to Salah, Gakpo, Diaz and Robbo on the other flank and putting in crosses from the flanks?

Also, Gakpo produced the goods while still putting in a defensive shift. Just saying.

Nunez is the quickest forward in our team. None of the other forwards would have got the ball.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Nothing to do with pace, he was ahead of Yoro but allowed him to clean him out with the ball.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

It was a good tackle

Then what happens if we still concede or lose the game? You'd be asking for his resignation for making that change.

Brilliant tackle and if Konate made it for example we would laud him but I am still disappointed with Nunez that he did not make more of it.

I suspect this is Nunez’s last season tbh.

Mamba why are you just such a cvnt all the time on this board now? You used to be a solid contributor but you just add nothing now.

Think that's incredibly harsh on Nunez to be honest, it was just a very good tackle.

What irked me more yesterday was seeing Gakpo bottle out of a challenge at either 0-0 or 0-1. Obviously scored a very good goal but it summed up how little fight we had for large parts yesterday.

It was a weird performance all round really wasn’t it.

I could be wrong but I felt the pressure got to them a bit, just like last season.

For all the talk about Trent and Salah and don't get me wrong, it's deserved.

It was still a Trent ball that won us the penalty and Salah converted it. Came from our "problem side".

Make of that what you will

I don't even think it's the tactics, Trent was letting people go past him with ease, his forward play was dire and his mind was obviously somewhere else.

He's been a great servant, but I'm starting to see premadona traits in him, and we dont need any of that at the club
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He's always been a bit of a prima Donna IMO.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That's a fair point tbf

That’s the trade really isn’t it, and one that has served us well in countless occasions.

Thought the same and have to hope it doesn't affect them like it did last year.

The talk from VVD after the game I don't think it will. He was visibly furious and I think Slot was also quite annoyed watching his interview.

Tad annoying we don't have a PL game for 9 days though, as it's one to probably move on from as quick as possible.

I’ve got bored of discussing it to an extent. You can’t be in two places at once and that’s about all there is to it.

The trade off is worth it 99% of the time but yesterday I think it was the total lack of effort as opposed to simply defending poorly that's got everyone riled up.

I was sure Slot was going to come out after the game saying Trent was ill because he looked like he just couldn't be bothered in any aspect of his play.

At home to your biggest rivals, in a title race, when you're vice captain, and you put such little effort in. Honestly no excuse for him.

Is Salah worse, or less effective, when Bradley plays in your opinion?

Pretty hard to tell based on 235 minutes.

That's a good question Fred but I'd wager that they've only played together a handful of times so not enough to base an opinion on.

Saying that, I have no problem handing the RB position to Bradley should Trent decide to leave. Obviously we should still sign a RB but I have zero issue with making him first choice based on performances thus far

Lets not forget that Trent has been defensively good this season, its his mind and demeanour which concerns me.

He needs to make his mind up on how he wants to conduct himself.

Agreed. Best option for all is if he signs a pre-contract agreement, lets the fans know what he’s doing, and then puts in good performances until he leaves.

Yeah Trent's mental conditioning has been a concern for the past 2 seasons tbh. Not sure what has happened or if it's just ego but it's definitely something the club can look at.

He's a Gen Z boy...maybe send him to therapy to talk about his feelings, they love that shiiit
