Fwiw I thought Dalot had a very solid game defensively and occupied Trent well when going forward too. I agree with Slot on that. Best performance this season from Utd really, credit where it’s due.
posted 1 day, 10 hours ago
Got to be frustrating for United fans knowing the players can put that type of performance in if they can be bothered.
Let's hope they do actually improve as the season goes on now we've played them twice as Arsenal still have to go to OT.

May have already been said but a word for our Captain, who imo, was the best player on the pitch.
He was utterly faultless and it was a true captains performance.

Yeah Trent's mental conditioning has been a concern for the past 2 seasons tbh. Not sure what has happened or if it's just ego but it's definitely something the club can look at.
He's a Gen Z boy...maybe send him to therapy to talk about his feelings, they love that shiiit

This board astounds me at times.
We have the second best defensive record in the league; 1 goals worse than Arsenal. And that's with our Gk, arguably the best in the world, missing a fair chunk of the season. We have conceded 1 goal in our 6 CL games.
All of this with Trent and Robbo playing a lot of minutes. They've won the lot. And they're setting us up nicely for more trophies this year.
But apparently we might be a better team with Bradley rather than Trent?! Please. It's like those who claim City might be a better team without Haaland.
Football is always a trade off of attacking and defensive football. Klopp trusted Trent. Slot trusts Trent. Ancelotti apparently wants Trent. In fact the only manager that hasn't is Southgate! And to be frank, I don't want Southgate's brand of football for us.
Trent may go and Bradley may come in and do well. But as far I'm concerned we would be losing a phenomenal footballer and be worse off for it.

I don't think he helped himself with that interview a few weeks ago where he said he cares more about winning the Ballon'Dor than the league or CL because he's already done it.
Even if you genuinely think that it's just not the sort of thing you come out with because it indicates you care more about individual awards than team ones.

Trent has had a good season overall but an absolute shocker yesterday.
The criticism is deserved and a reality check is probably exactly what he needed to be honest. It may actually serve him well from here on in if he can learn lessons from and knuckle down for the rest of the season.

Trent is one of the top players in the world. There's a reason he's won everything and is wanted by Real Madrid. He had a bad game yesterday, but he's human. It happened to coincide with the Madrid stuff being made public, by the Spanish (Madrid backing) media.
Pay the lad whatever he wants. He's nailed on to be the next captain of the club.

Slot could have made a simple switch where he moved Diaz to the right and Salah in as false 9 for 10 mins.

Then what happens if we still concede or lose the game? You'd be asking for his resignation for making that change.

Definitely want him to stay but must also admit I don't think he should get the captaincy when VVD leaves/declines.
Just doesn't strike me as captain material given he doesn't seem the most vocal and can have the odd lazy game like yesterday.

Whether that part of the system has served us well is relative to what you're comparing it too. We have won things but also lost titles and European semis and finals partially due to getting raped down the right hand side.

Even with Salah staying up and TAA doing his thing, we are still better than most teams. Some teams don't have the tools to exploit that weakness, but other teams can do it to devastating effect.
The problem is that we have been competing with teams like City who used to have no obvious weaknesses and Madrid with a devastating attack. We've lost a few titles by a point, been leading at Christmas a few times and dropped off too.
At the top of the game the margins are very very small and a small weakness can be the difference IMO. We win 15 in a row but City win 18 in a row. As Klopp used to say, you have to be perfect these days.
