May miss Burnley and Norwich also if so.

Are fixtures are pretty kind over January and Feb, I don't see it as too much of an issue myself.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We usually struggle in Jan & Feb though. Our title winning season was the anomaly if you look at Klopp's reign.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Yeah hopefully we bring someone in. Certainly room in the squad.

We do tend to do business in January so I am hopeful.

Anyone keeping tabs on the Mendy case? Refused bail and placed on the wing.

I'd say he is fvcked. One was under 18 too which is a bit weird.

I do think those who lament FSG do need to remember what has been invested into the club and the success that has been generated because of that and, like others have said, without leveraging debts from elsewhere.

Be careful what you wish for.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't have any issue with FSG. I have seen Konchesky and Poulsen live on the pitch and it was a traumatic experience watching us play like Fulham.

I'm gonna take a wild prediction and say he's guilty. He just seems the type to me in terms of character, hard to explain why. So many separate cases raises alarm bells too.

Not really sure why City kept playing him all this time, reflects badly on them.

Hopefully.

Unless we have an injury crises like what happen at CB last season, I doubt it though.

Yeah agree, I don't think the CPS would charge and the judge refuse bail (although apparently he broke bail conditions back in August) if they did not have a very strong case. Three separate women (or two and one girl) plus a strong of other charges does not look good.

Some videos leaked of him too and he does seem a bit shady to say the least.

Harder to get info on Gylfi because he's on nonce charges.

I'm waiting for something to happen in January as well, it's not like deals haven't been done there before.

Absolutely. That caught so many of them, I also think the ‘vigilantes’ who honeytrap them are great too.

Asking for improvements to the team means we hate the club
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It’s not just asking for improvements to the team is it. It’s the constant moaning and negativity, along with shiite like ‘FSG are ruining the club’

Some on here aren’t happy unless they’re having a good old whinge.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trouble is there's the other half who will apply the above to anybody who says anything other than how great every decision the club makes is.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Don't think this is true at all.

There have been plenty of fack ups during their time as owners, several PR disasters spring to mind.

But going in to last season with Phillips as 5th choice CB wasn't one of them, who on earth expects their 4 first choices to be injured at the same time?!?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
In fairness we all raised an eyebrow at Lovren not being replaced. Obviously, the gamble backfired worse than we could have possibly imagined!

We do have by far the thinnest squad of the top four especially in an attacking sense, unless you think Minamino and Origi will play a valuable part.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's irrelevant, neither of them earn much money, who will come in as an improvement on them, happy to sit the bench for their wages, on a similar fee to what we would get for them?

Unless you buy in to conspiracy nonsense, easily dispelled by taking a look at the published accounts that is the situation we are in. Covid hammered us, and so do the covid changes to FFP, keeping a big loss making year on the books for another two years.

FSG aren't out to defraud you. We may have made similar to the top 6 teams in terms of revenue the last few years but we also have a massive wage bill, because we pay lower contracted amounts and much higher bonuses.

You can't budget based on winning a CL or PL each season, Leeds bet their budgets on success and it sent them bankrupt. The fact is that our stadium is only just starting to catch up to the biggest teams in England, our Sponsership revenue has only taken off under FSG, the club is still being modernised and properly built, and love them or loathe them FSG are very fair owners, no money out, no money in, the club stands on its own two feet.

You can check the accounts to see that they are living up to their end of the bargain, and if a player klopp had wanted, was available within our budget I don't see why they would risk angering their £15m a year manager (the second highest paid manager in the league)

Klopp is happy, I trust klopp, and the betching and whining from some people on here is fackin ridiculous and tiresome and destroys the thread, there are PUBLICLY PUBLISHED ACCOUNTS which dispell the nonsense being peddled here.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Here is exactly what I'm on about. All I've said is the squad is thin, that is a fact recognised by pretty much everybody. We have four impactful attackers, and two that will barely get a kick all year and I get a tirade about how great the owners are.

Chelsea, City and United have more money than we do, yes. They have deeper squads than we do, yes. I get where we are financially, I know we can't afford the same investment the other clubs can but that doesn't negate the fact that our squad is thin.

Saying our squad is thin is not an insult towards either FSG or the way the club is run, it's just a fact.

Another point: your comment, "It's irrelevant, neither of them earn much money, who will come in as an improvement on them, happy to sit the bench for their wages, on a similar fee to what we would get for them?".

People said this before Jota who has forced his way into the side ahead of Firmino. Mane is the next one that needs genuine pressure on his position as he's been poor for the best part of two years.

Salah aside, our front three is not this attacking powerhouse that it used to be, and thinking there couldn't possibly be a player out there that could challenge their position as everpresents is utterly ludicrous.

Salah will miss a maximum of three games from AFCON. I'm not sure that's a need but hey ho.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Plus quarantine.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

A lot could change on that though I would have thought. How long is quarantine? Ten days?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Quarantine is a much bigger problem than just ten days without playing.

It's ten days without playing, without exercise, without conditioning as it'll be in a government mandated hotel room.

Klopp said himself that's a huge problem for footballers.

=============

Absolute nonsense.

posted on 2/9/21

I wouldn't say Mane has been poor for the best part of two years now. His performances were poor last season yet he still knocked in 16 goals I believe.

Not to say he is irreplaceable and that others can't be brought in to certainly challenge his place, but finding those people who can adequately challenge will want a significant amount of game time and are they realistically going to get that?

Oh come, you're deluding yourself if you think he's as effective during games as he was pre-covid.

99% of Liverpool fans know he isn't the player he used to be. Poor *by his standards* maybe a fairer comment but still, absolutely not this irreplaceable player he's made out to be for some weird reason.

Well he has scored 8 less goals than the two years previously (but has more assists fwiw).

It's right up there with Rhys Williams forming a solid partnership with Nat Phillips for the finals months of last season.

Mane has 8 goals in his last 14 games.

To say he has been poor for the best part of two years is utter bollox. Don't you get embarrassed? Genuine question.

So there's no player in world football we could sign that would challenge his position in the team? Because this is the debate we're having and the context my comment was made in after all.

posted on 2/9/21

I'll agree he hasn't been has effective since pre-Covid in terms of performances, but he is still producing even during his worst spell.

No player is irreplaceable, but how do you find said player? How do you find a player that will join the club to compete with Mane in his position, be able to produce a good return and keep them happy in terms of game time?

Klopp has faith in the players he has faith in. Mane is certainly one of them.
