Oh come, you're deluding yourself if you think he's as effective during games as he was pre-covid.
99% of Liverpool fans know he isn't the player he used to be. Poor *by his standards* maybe a fairer comment but still, absolutely not this irreplaceable player he's made out to be for some weird reason.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Mane has 8 goals in his last 14 games.
To say he has been poor for the best part of two years is utter bollox. Don't you get embarrassed? Genuine question.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So there's no player in world football we could sign that would challenge his position in the team? Because this is the debate we're having and the context my comment was made in after all.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Your comment was bollox end of.
I loath the form is permanent class is temporary culture to be fair but acting like I am the one who is spouting polarised erroneous is simply untrue.
Only 10 days ago Neo was calling me an attention seeker and literally laughing at me for suggesting Elliot was ahead of Ox in midfield.
If some posters on this site had their way Mane would be out of the door, Firmino put down, Henderson would have been out the club six years ago and Trent would be in the ressies.
Yes there are better players than Mane but there's not many is there and that's just a fact.

I'll agree he hasn't been has effective since pre-Covid in terms of performances, but he is still producing even during his worst spell.
No player is irreplaceable, but how do you find said player? How do you find a player that will join the club to compete with Mane in his position, be able to produce a good return and keep them happy in terms of game time?
Klopp has faith in the players he has faith in. Mane is certainly one of them.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Firmino was one of them, now it's Jota. I find it bizarre that people see it as so impossible we could sign an attacker to challenge the front three when did exactly that with Diogo Jota.

Yes but you have to look at availability as well. How do we know the club haven't tried to do that? These players just might not be available.
It has been done with Jota, but I don't think I was the only one who was skeptical of the price for the player that was arriving and I don't think many believed he would have turned out as well as he has. It's obviously not luck, but, as seen with Minamino, not everybody who joins the club will always have an impact.

It's not bollox is it, even Mane himself admitted he struggled last term and it was his worst season.
It's not a conspiracy against you robbing, he just hasn't been as good and he's 30 this year - you need to think about 2022/23 and beyond. Otherwise we end up having to overhaul the squad, rather than evolving it over time.
Doesn't mean Mane isn't the mainstay in the team this year, but he absolutely needs more of a challenge.

And I don't actually disagree with that. I disagree with saying Mane has been poor for two years. He's been one of the best left sided forwards in that time even when struggling last season. If you can find a list of payers out performing him when everyone else in the league also struggled a bit then I'll happily read it but it'll probably have Rhys Williams on it won't it.

It's not pedantic when your comment is simply untrue. As such I'd suggest the problem, if you even feel there is one (I don't), is people posting polarised nonsense.

Wow.
He does need better competition and will eventually need replacing and of course replacing all these players doesn't want to happen in an overhaul either.
It's been an achilles heel for a good 3 years+ now about the front 3 not having enough competition or the club not having enough quality squad players to come and step in when needed. That has been well documented.
During those 3 years, only Jota has been brought in that has provided good competition, stepped in/acclaimed a place some would argue and doesn't represent a significant drop off in quality to any of the usual front 3 like what Minamino and Origi do. He also cost £45m.
3 years and yet 1 player has been found at £45m. It just isn't as easy to say go and find somebody who can compete.
If you wanted my opinion, I believe somebody like Adama Traore, Kinsgley Coman or Ousmane Dembele would be a good shout for a player who can come in, bring quality and good competition for the front 3 and eventually have a starting place. Those 3 though come with hefty price tags or massive wages. There is no guarantee they would want to be part of the squad rotation either. It's just not that simple.
*ten second cursory check of both our articles we've contributed to the site*

Hey, it's an anonymous forum so I'm sure you're not bothered but most of your conversation with posters on here is arguments when actually it could so easily be friendly natured debate if you weren't such a pedantic, abrasive individual.

I said that because there was nothing at the time that suggested it was true. Now Elliott started against Chelsea you have a stronger argument but its literally one game where few others in his position were fit, I highly expect Klopp will change it a lot throughout the season.
As for bringing up others opinions from 6 years ago (bizarre argument), I seem to remember you saying Salah was crap and didn't want him before we signed him, so there you go.
Mane has lost a yard of pace (undeniable) and his form has dipped (either considerably or marginally depending on who's opinion) in the last 12 months (not two years as Fred says). Either way, It's not unreasonable by any stretch of the imagination to think a new player player brought in would be able to displace him.
Also robbing, you argue about people wanting us to sign an attacker to compete with and in time displace Mane etc, but in 2019 you wanted Dybala when MFS were at the peak of their powers...

It's been since the restart really, covid has felt like two years though!
I can barely remember the end of the previous season to be honest, apart from us lifting the trophy. I remember the whole team playing as if they were on the beach so not entirely surprising to have forgotten the details.

Yes there are better players than Mane but there's not many is there and that's just a fact.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's not bollox is it, even Mane himself admitted he struggled last term and it was his worst season.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And I don't actually disagree with that. I disagree with saying Mane has been poor for two years. He's been one of the best left sided forwards in that time even when struggling last season. If you can find a list of payers out performing him when everyone else in the league also struggled a bit then I'll happily read it but it'll probably have Rhys Williams on it won't it.

And Robbing has just explained this forum perfectly.
He agrees with my point but just to ensure an argument, becomes pedantic with one argument that I've made, rather than focus on the overall context.
Top notch conversation as always.

I remember you saying our set pieces were awful when a cursory check that takes ten seconds shows that we were in fact the best.
Should I just let that go so you feel more comfortable in conversation?
It's not pedantic when your comment is simply untrue. As such I'd suggest the problem, if you even feel there is one (I don't), is people posting polarised nonsense.

There's no problem, you're just not a very good poster. You contribute little to the forum aside from insults and pedantry.

Just my opinion robbing but you seem to be proud of your abrasive, pedantic nature.
Hey, it's an anonymous forum so I'm sure you're not bothered but most of your conversation with posters on here is arguments when actually it could so easily be friendly natured debate if you weren't such a pedantic, abrasive individual.

Again, simply not true.
But aside of that if you feel that's all I contribute to the site that's fine. I mean I'm not saying I don't like your "Just facking hit it article" or anything. I've pasted it below as a bench mark for me to remember as you certainly seem qualified.
"You facking losers. You aren't clever stop trying to facking pretend you are and just facking kit it.

You've just posted my most recent (I believe) article as if you've just found something I'd hidden away.
Not exactly the revelation you think it is, robbing.
Stand by what I said, was facking furious they did the stupid stutter run ups! So was half the nation.

I can barely remember the end of the previous season to be honest, apart from us lifting the trophy. I remember the whole team playing as if they were on the beach so not entirely surprising to have forgotten the details.

Our performances during that period seemed to match the general air of malaise around the country tbh.
