Also I think the ill feelings stem from the fact that we sold Lovren and made the decision not to replace him saying that we had adequate cover and could also move Fabinho back if needed...then low and behold the entire central defence was out.
This season we know we need some sort of cover for the front 3 and Jota...then you factor in that Klopp does not trust the back up and we know for a fact that 2 or those 4 will be away...yet we still take the same risk
That's what really is getting to the fans...not the lack of signings...the lack of good proactive decision making.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well.. we had
VVD,
Matip,
Gomez,
Fabinho,
Phillips,
Rhys Williams and Van den berg.
Now it's not exactly normal to get a season ending injury to a player, let alone three in the same position, followed by a short term injury to your FOURTH choice.. genuinely interested if you guys can point to OTHER examples of a pile up of injuries
If you can't, why the hell do you expect FSG/Klopp to forsee it happening?!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Even if you only lose two defenders your season is disrupted by no longer having a world class defensive midfielder in position. Our shocking form started with two defenders out.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So what do you propose the club should change?
Stockpile a load of players just in case an thinkable amount of injuries occur in that position? Are the club meant to keep at least 8 CB's at the club from now on?
Selling Lovren and not replacing him was a risky move from the club, but I don't understand why people think Lovren staying would have made that much of a significant difference to last season anyway. Yes, he's a natural CB but you'd have still potentially have had Fabinho out of position.

Fabinho wasnt even tested at cb, anyone who followed liverpool knows it was a huge gamble relying on matip and gomez to stay fit when they havent even got close to completing a full season with us in 6 years? Then the 3 kids untested and none of them that highly rated either.
Im struggling to see why people defend that, thats just how it was. Even the cb we sold and didnt replace was unreliable he was available for 6 games inaa row with us once in his entire career here. And he was gash anyway 😂.
It was all of our first choice CBs though. Only 3...that was it...2 of which have documented injury problems.

No it didn't. When Gomez got injured we won 4 and drew 2 of our next 6 league games, including winning 0-7. Our issues started when Matip got injured. And I doubt many teams could cover their 3 first choice CB's being injured for the season.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I remember that 7-0 win. Got very excited for the season at that point. Then what happened

Matip was injured at the end of January, our shocking form started at the end of December. It was when Klopp finally realised that playing one of the world's best defensive midfielders in their positions and putting a CB at CB did our form improve again.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yep Matip played in the Burnley loss at home.
There's a difference between having injury prone CBs and having them both out for the season in November and January though.
Even if we bought another CB in last August, we'd still have struggled as you can't plan for 3 season ending injuries in one position.
Putting Fabinho back in midfield helped massively and was a huge contributor to our good form to end the season (pause whilst Term reads this to check for correctness).
I did say very early on how I would not want to see Fabinho in defence back when we sold Lovren and didn't replace him, as it would weaken our midfield. He is a top quality centre back, but he is also a vitally important cog in our midfield.

Lmao exactly. Matip and Gomez are sicknotes and people are like omg who could have predicted they would get an injury. Van Dijk was the one surprise and one genuine bad fortune, the other two are expected, which is why it was criminal to sell Lovren without a replacement.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I still can't believe we have people arguing against Klopp being given the best possible squad, within our means, to work with.
Our greatest manager since Dalglish. It's facking crazy

we were unusually facking clinical and scored some lovely goals, highlights dont even show palace chances though and they missed some right chances.
