I like the idea of getting our defence set for the next 10 years, sakho, lovren, Ilori are all still young, have high hopes for wisdom also!
He doesnt suit our high tempo game though.
I wouldn't bank on a defender lasting past 30-31 at peak form
it almost never happens, they start to wane
Lovren is a tremendous defender. He was the reason Saints had a good defense. He will form a good partnership with sakho. Both are good in the air, both have good pace and are physical. I have seen a lot of soton games and he was the standout defender for them.
Sakho sends my nerves into overdrive when he's on the ball. For the way we play out from the back he doesn't fill me with confidence when he gets it in our half.
We have to go for Firmino if we get 80m for Suarez.

Agree, I did state that his last few years (post 31) would be largely a mentor/cover role for the next CB's.
It's worked bloody well for united with vidic and ferdinand!!
Wish we had bought shaw too. Flanno lovren sakho and shaw would have been a quality long term defence.
Good teams are built on stable foundations.

lol hes least likely to lose the ball, all that is based on his posture jaha, makes me laugh
Longterm only see flanno as a squad player, no offense to him

where was lallana at albertoa age?
-------------------------
Playing games in the loser league for Southampton, so he's obviously cráp!
Alberto played a good through ball against a tottenham team that where all over the place.
Tell me this, if Rodgers really wanted Alberto and Aspas why didn't they get more football?
The main difference between this summer and last is that the players coming in seem to be the managers choice, he's coming out and really stating his approval of the players and can said he joined after speaking to the boss!
Kolo, that was my point, youve wrote off alberto already.
like he xould never be a good player.
To be fair I am pretty sure BR called Alberto his number 1 target last summer.
Lets not pretend all good signings are Rodgers and all bad ones are someone else.
Everyone makes bad decisions on players.
We wouldnt have signed any player rodgers didnt want, he has the final say

I did, but if he carries on his progression from last season he will be a Gary neville type, playing long term for a top team despite being unspectacular.
It takes the lesser players to make the bright lights shine. You Can do a lot worse than a defensively solid fullback with a lot of love for the club.

Never said anything bad about him, just br may want someone with a better attacking ability, but he may prefer one the fullbacks being more defensive

Because he just totally wrong for this league!!!!!!!!!!!!
He will be good in a slow, low physical league but the prem is high intensity and very physical. Alberto May very we'll go on to have a good career in Spain but not in England, Lalkana on the otherhand has proved himself in the leagues (which are much more physical) right up to the premier league and he's got in on the international stage!
Show me the comment where I said he's not a good player!
Plus I think Rodgers now has the final say but I don't think he did before!

You said lallana is 5 times the player he will ever be
Flanno's not that defensive, if anything I'd say he looks better getting forward.
If it was purely based on defence, I'd sell him
Why wouldnt he have it before and does now, got a source not just a guess because yoy like the transfer

However his goal vs spurs might have been my favourite last season boy deserved that!
