It's a massive L for us regardless.
I don’t think 89m can ever be considered a bargain but it’s relative value I’d say. Bellingham is 19 so you’re potentially looking at 15 years of a top class midfielder.
Utd paid that for Pogba 7 years ago. Enzo went for over 100m. The likes of Maddison and Mount are being touted as 60-70m. Rice more than that. In that context 89m for Bellingham seems slightly too low. Especially when Dortmund have been (apparently) looking for 130m.
Remember when Sancho was supposed to be 100m and United got him for 72m. We have seen the Haaland example too. Bellingham was never going to go for 130m or whatever was reported. We could have paid the fee but those wages would have been 300k plus which is what Haaland and Sancho manage to achieve.
Salah had to had 5 World class seasons to get that wage.
It was just another fake interest from us. It bought the owners time after a shocking window last summer. Now they have to deliver. We have already lost out on Ugarte.
Jude was never going for 100mil
I have no idea why being keep referencing Haaland. He had a release clause which was set before he even set foot on a pitch for Dortmund. His transfer was not determined by what clubs were willing to pay, it was what Dortmund were obliged to accept.

Really? In a world where Antony goes for 86.5m, Mudryk goes for 88.5m, Grealish goes for 100m and Enzo goes for 106m; you don’t think there was any chance Bellingham goes for 100m?
He’s better than all those players imo.
they got 132m for dembele
if they cant get close to that for jude with no buyout clause or last year of contract theyve played a shocker
he will be entering his last year though next year at which point theyd have to take less you'd imagine.

Calm down
So have our target lineup been scuppered already? Wasnt it only the other day we had all our summer targets lined up?
Watched Argentina in the u20 WC and Federico Redondo will be a great player in the future. It won't suprise me if City, Barca, Madrid or even Brighton go for him.
that the son of fernando redondo?

Nobody actually knows what our targets are, just a bunch of assumptions based on who they want us to sign.

Thats what i thought, usually comes out of the blue for us and its usually done quickly or we move on quickly if it falls through, like we did with the lb situation went for our 2nd target tsimikas over the kid who went to was it newcastle in the end?
Premier League wage bill table 2022-23
Total annual payroll
1. Chelsea - £216,644,000
2. Manchester United - £213,330,000
3. Manchester City - £186,160,000
4. Liverpool - £164,580,000
5. Arsenal - £110,396,000
6. Tottenham Hotspur - £110,240,000
7. Aston Villa - £91,670,000
8. West Ham United - £84,500,000
9. Newcastle United - £81,562,000
10. Everton - £81,536,000
reckon ours will prob hit closer to arsenal/spurs without cl bonuses, arsenals might even jump ours next season. Also losing some big earners this summer.
James Milner £3,120,000 £60,000
Naby Keita £6,240,000 £120,000
Ox £6,240,000 £120,000
Firmino £9,360,000 £180,000
frees up 25m off it.
If it really is only an £89m fee then us pulling out was ridiculous.
Wonder which exciting new contracts will get announced in the transfer window this time?

Kash, and he got it off one of those Whattsapp groups that have lots of red and yellow dots on it.
So it must be true.

Maybe all of them. Plus whoever we sign, Mac Allister and then who knows who else. It sounds like we've done a lot of ground work on our targets already.
