This is one reason we hate the early kick off on Saturdays.

i think arsenal had about 24 hours extra between each game

Am I misremembering or did Klopp not really care about the Cups initially in his first few seasons? Feels like we play strong teams and go far a lot more the last few years, lots of extra games

City don’t have a single player that’s started 40 games this season

I don't think that's true. We still rotate for cups but have a better squad and therefore still win most. Before when we rotated we had more losses. Look how many youth players played this season in cups even in late stages.

Also we need to factor in injuries. When we have a load of injuries it forces some players to be played when otherwise they would have been rested.

We definitely played kids in some of the cups. I remember away to Exeter City and I think Brad Smith scored? Then Lucas scored in the replay?

But as TOOR says, the squad is just much better these days, so it's not a fair comparison.

I’d bet a reasonable amount of money that our injuries decrease next season.

Yep, 100% agree.

Comparing us to City might be a bit of a stretch. They have Rodri, De Bruyne, Foden, Silva, Kovacic, Nunes and John Stones who could play in midfield. That's an incredible list to choose from. Best in the league by some distance.

But I'll definitely be looking at Arsenal who's intensity rivals ours at times and Arteta rarely rotates yet still no injuries in training nothing. We can learn a lot from them regarding player recovery.

Also we all know Klopp's double sessions and our high intensity games. Then you add rhythm over rotation...it's a recipe for disaster. Dortmund experienced a lot of injuries while he was there as well. Every week there was 2 or 3 players out.

We also use our front 3 players to press the entire backline, gk included and the defensive midfielder. That's a lot of running...and we also sprint more because of the counter-press being our main creator of chances.

Klopp's football demands a lot tbh

I’d also look at how players drop of a fvcking cliff all of a sudden.

Throw in a good amount of caffeine doping and I’m not surprised we get hammered by injuries.

Does that make us more competitive in general? Probably.

Pearce gets more things wrong than he does right these days so maybe we should be worried

I don’t believe that, Rodri surely has for example. They keep talking about how he could start 50 odd games this season on commentary.

Why? Because the medical practice at the club will be more suited to the new manager than Klopp?

Considering our new Sporting Director sacked him last summer it was a very dubious link.

Rodri has played the equivalent of 37 games this season, counting his minutes played...excluding international games.

Is all this statistically accurate?

Also, how much worse than other teams is our injury record? Especial those that don't do caffeine doping.

posted on 23/4/24

Rodri is 28 in the league, 8 in the CL, 3 FA Cup and no League Cup apps.

Yeah Milner is pretty much the only (non- injury prone) CM we've had under Klopp who's legs didn't go earlier than expected, and that's because the man's a freak.

We constantly run more kms and make more sprints than our opposition. There's always stats from Anfield Index about our pressing.
