Talk of Paulo Fonseca this morning.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'd prefer him over some of the others mentioned.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He is a journeyman. I'd take Frank, fek that.

Yeah he done a good job at Lille from the little I’ve seen.

I wouldn’t be against Frank. Klopp likes him and I trust his judgement entirely.

We need to accept that any manager will be a downgrade unless we can get Ancelotti which we can’t.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Klopp likes quite a few managers, like De Zerbi who I don't want. Fergie liked Moyes too. Klopp liking him doesn't mean much.

I was teasing when I said Frank would be cheaper than Klopp yesterday, but our club do seem to value Prem experience when buying players so it really wouldn't surprise me too much if we tried to get a manager already in the league

The reason some fans are more receiving to Frank is because of Brentford's style of play in the championship where he wasn't this counter-attacking team you see now in the PL.

Brentford scored the most goals and were praised for their style of play...but that was all in the championship like 4 or 5 years ago.

I think he's a decent coach tbh...and who knows where they would be in the table with Toney AND Mbeumo for a full season...still more question marks with Frank than De Zerbi tbh...not taking anything away from what he's doing with Bentford

Bit disappointed we haven’t got them Alonso anyway. Generally, if you pay them enough, they come.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Be surprised if it’s anything to do with money. More a case of having his own ideas on how he wants his career to go.

I'd be OK with Frank I think. If he doesn't work out, he'll be cheap to fire in 12 months time and we can appoint Xabi...

Not sure that would be true of Xabi. He seems to be more interested in developing his skills. Plus after a career involving huge contracts at Liverpool, RM and Bayern, I suspect he's not short of a few Euros.

I actually salute Alonso for his decision. It's the same one I feel Gerrard should've made before taking the Villa job.

Things have gone right this season but a truly great side follow it up with another consistent season. It could be seen as a bigger test of his metal than just leaving on a high

Tbf yes, wanting to stay another year there I have zero issues with. Shows loyalty and I like that

I mean one more season of similar form from Leverkusen, regardless of trophies and there's no doubt in anyone's mind that Alonso is the real deal tbh. Also his run in the CL will be telling.

I mean if you look at it Klopp went back-to-back in Dortmund...that's how you knew he was the real deal.

I'm sure the reason people think Frank is defensive is because of how they'll played against us. It also ignores that they have opened up against us a couple of times and scored 3 goals on a couple of occasions.

Frank's football isn't defensive. They counter attack with pace and width. I still don't think he's right for the jump up tbh. He needs an interim club. He'd actually be a great recruit for WHam imo.

If it weren't for the difficulty of the City link, I could see us going for Mancini. Experienced, won leagues in multiple countries, knows the league, won the Euros. CV is good.

I don’t think Frank is defensive at all. In fact I’ve seen him play two up top plenty of times, plus he always seems to cause the big teams issues. He’s a very good coach.

Would prefer Mancini though. Do the City links matter? Not to me.

Makes sense. Expectations would be reduced as it's rumoured potential managers are afraid of following Klopp.

City links don't matter. However Mancini would not be thr right choice in my opinion.

Mourinho was at the Fulham game...

I'd rather have Frank who I don't rate than facking Fonseca. The guy is out of his depth wherever I have seen him managing.

posted on 23/4/24

Latest rumour is Gary O'Neil.

I do actually rate him as a manager and he was one of our youth coaches, but would be a bit strange given Hughes sacked him at Bournemouth

Might have a little flutter on Pep Lijnders

Apparently he just lives in the area, also Fulham are surely happy with Silva right now

We should go for Guardiola

Well we can add Emery to the crossed off list as he's just signed a new contract
