Gary O’Niel is my no.1 choice.

He’ll tick things over for a year without being spectacular leaving an elite manager to take over for 25/26 without having to follow on from Klopp.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Then who?

Gary Megson?

Why would it be a bad thing anyhow.
————————

Because he signed terrible players, failed to keep the good ones and talked shiiiiiiiiiiiit
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Which terrible players did he sign?
Which players did he fail to keep?

I'll have to give you the talking crap one as he was partial to a good philosophy speech.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Bad players: Balotelli, Lambert, Aspas, Assaidi, Markovic, Benteke, Manquillo, Sahin, Lovren, Alberto, Mignolet, Cissoko, Borini, Allen

Not a single one of these players was good enough for Liverpool.

Failed to keep: Sterling, Suarez

Now there’s some mitigating circumstances with the two sales but the signings were appalling. I’m not sure he improved many, if any, players either. On top of that, rather than wait for the right signings, he opted for the players above who just weren’t at the right level.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Boomwhat a list that is

Christ I hadn’t realised it was that bad, there are so many fecking awful players there. Cringe quotes aside I didn’t mind Brendan as our manager.

I always find it a bit disrespectful when Suarez recalls about his time at Liverpool in interviews the level of crap players he had to contend with in his time here, but it’s a fair comment.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Some list alright.

Although some of those were loans and loans only happen when a manager doesn't get the players he wants as stop gaps.

Others were good players who just didn't work out like Aspas.

Then you have Lovren and Mignolet who shouldn't be on the list in my opinion, who were good players albeit not world class.

Balotelli Rodgers was very clear he didn't want him.

Suarez wanted to leave, it didn't matter who the manager was and after losing players, Gerrard being at the end of his career and signing Ballotelli and Lambert as replacements, Sterling was our main player at 19, of course he wanted to leave.

It wasn't about the manager, it was about the circumstances, we were shopping in Lidl at that time with a poor transfer strategy. Times have now changed, which of course Klopp has been a part of.

I’ve seen a few people write about how following on from Klopp is some kind of issue and I just don’t get it.

Yes, we saw a dip at Utd after two decades of Fergie and him leaving behind an aging squad with questionable attitudes but other than that, I can’t think of an example as to why this would be an issue.

Did any manager struggle post Jose? Did Barca struggle post Guardiola? Bayern struggle post Flick? Real struggle after Zidane?

It’s about players, not some ethereal narrative that’s made up.

Not surprised. I didn’t think the structure of that Nike deal sounded particularly good at the time.

The terms of the deal meant we would have to sell an incredible volume of merchandise for the deal to get up towards United’s etc.

And when Nike’s kits year after year have been absolute crap, we didn’t stand much chance of doing that.

Atleast we won't have to see those horrific kits and trainers Lebron releases every year
