This is a lot of drama over a toys-outta-pram moment.

I wish Mo had kept whatever frustration or anger he felt away from the pitch and behind closed doors. But I’m not overly fussed about it. These things happen, the two of them will sort it out. Probably have already.

I certainly don’t want this used as an excuse to sell Salah. In a fairly average season, by his standards, he’s got another 24 goals and into double digits for assists. He’s 31 and is totally professional in his physical conditioning. No reasons he can’t play to a very high standard for another couple of years.

This job is a big step up for Slot, I can’t imagine he’d want to sell one of our best players and, by a clear distance, our most productive player. Doesn’t feel like a good start to me because whoever he brings in for the money faces the same task he does, replacing a giant of our club.

Personally I hope to see Salah line up for us on the opening day of next season.

A few rumours linking Barca to Nunez today, as a Lewa replacement. Probably bullshiitt, but there’s also been rumours linking him to Chelsea, lately and last summer. The Joyce stuff midweek saying he was a Klopp signing was strangely out of the blue and maybe hinted at laying foundations for an exit.

If a £45m offer comes in, do you take it? Polls on social media seem pretty split 60:40. With Salah likely going too, that’s a lot of goals you need to replace next season, but I think it’s inevitable that next season will be a transition season for us anyway with the new manager.

Would obviously depend on the player but if we got a suitable offer from Barca and he wanted to go, I’d accept it in a heartbeat personally.

If any player wanted to leave then I’d let them. But I certainly wouldn’t be encouraging Nunez to leave,

Who are we buying for £45m as a replacement? That’s a Brennan Johnson level fee for a player with a significantly higher ceiling imo.

We should be working on realising his undoubted talent rather than working on his exit.

Not for 45m. In this market we should still be able to get back what we paid. If anyone offers that 60-65m I'd take it.

Obviously depends on what Slot and the committee want. If they want to keep him then let's go!

Wouldn't sell him at all to be honest this summer because even he has an identical season next year, I don't think the fee you'd get for him would really change.

There will be a lot of clubs out there who see his pace and other attributes, and think if we can just work on his finishing we'll have a monster.

posted on 28/4/24

Wouldnt sell him either but all eyes are on team Edwards who took all the plaudits under Klopp and he no history without Klopp so let's see. He's got his manager and it seems that he and his team will be doing the transfer business plus new contacts or not.

£45m for a 23 year old player in double digits for G&A in the Premier League?

No.

posted on 28/4/24

Personally I’d rather work with the player and help him reach his undoubtably high ceiling, and try to iron out his well known flaws.

Wanting to get rid of a player just because he’s not developing as quickly as some fans would like is a bit daft and very short sighted imo.

Hopefully the new manager and his staff can coach and improve players, especially in terms of shooting and finishing. Something Klopp just seems to have accepted rather than worked on helping them improve. Could say we've got worse under him infront of goal.

Our two most productive players this season have unfortunately dipped at the same time and at the worst stage of the season. It’s not just them though, hardly anyone has come out with any credit the last few games.

28 goals and 17 assists just in the league for the pair of them and some want to ditch them.

I don't think it's absurd tbh. It's two different opinions that both deserve respect IMO. Even if he stays I can't see us offering him a new contract. It's sell now or he leaves for free. Looking at our finances, Slot could use the money from a Salah sale.

I have more time for Nunez than Salah at the moment because Salah cannot be part of a project. He is very short term and I don't see why anyone should be desperately to keep him. I think the hope of him returning to the player he once was is false personally.

The way I see we should just sell him and embark on the new era once and for all. Start building immediately and put all our eggs and effort into it and see where it takes us. Salah will not be part of that and we are clinging on because he's a legend. Club needs to look after itself IMO. Remainders from the previous era can be problematic sometimes.

Somebody tell Thiago he doesn't have to wait till end of season, he can leave now. We've paid the price as injuries have taken their toll on us while Thiago spent all season keeping physios busy. Somebody like Carvalho who is on less than a quarter what Thiago is on would have done a lot of covering and helped the team. We even played Gakpo in AM.

His wages of 200k a week will be sent in the mail.

We do need another clinical player up top but to be honest the forward line is probably my least worries because they'll start scoring again solely on probabilities given how much we create.

I think something we do miss though is a threat on set pieces as it's only really VVD and maybe Jota these days, which is something Arsenal in particular have massively benefited from.

We used to have Matip, VVD, Fabinho, Bobby and even Mane who were all threats in the air, and some days when it's not your day you need that set piece goal.

Konate has been very poor in attacking set pieces too. Not scored for ages and when he gets a chance it usually ends well over the bar.

Dont get me started on set pieces, stop with the outswingers and we'd look more dangerous at them. Its not easy to score directly from and outswinger, to get the power and keep the header down is a lot harder than just flicking on an inswinger.

posted on 28/4/24

We've always been the best at set pieces or near the top, except for the last one or two seasons.

Arsenal focus on the finer details more too, blocking keepers and runs etc so sly at it.

We do need a manager who embraces dark arts. Klopp policy was always honesty.

Arsenal are going to win the league aren’t they…

Unless city do to them what they do to us its likely yh, everything just falling for them. Oppo missing their key players, no injuries and some key decisions going for them.

I hope the new coach has watched Arsenal in the first half. 6 physical players who don't give you time and space to shoot unlike our defenders and midfield. Edwards job is to give us some physical monsters at the back and midfield to bully those bottom 10 clubs.

I don't think we need to go that drastic. We just need a tall aggressive DM and keep the quality on the pitch. Arsenal score alot of set piece goals which is what we used to do when it was just VVD as the main threat who had Gomez as his partner.

I'm not that bothered who wins the league but it'll be infuriating if City finally drop points in a close title race the first year it doesn't involve us

The tactic with two traditional fullbacks is outdated. I want ball winners at the back and midfield. City play basically 4 CBs with Rodri infront of them at the moment. I want at least 3 CBs with a tall physical DM.

We had our best period when we played Gomez left back. It allowed one of the 8s more licence to go forward.
