I think Fred is right on this one to be honest. You're talking £150m missed out on the club by. Maybe only £100m in transfer fees but you also have another year of Salah's £400k wages.
I love Salah but we brought Edwards back to make the best decisions (and there will be some hard ones this summer no doubt) for the club to bring us long term success under the new manager.
I think he moves on, but yes of course the player has to agree to it first.

You rekon he's over the hill etc but we'll still be offered £150m for him, behave

Salah is more than just a football player for Saudi. He’s the absolute crown jewel of that project, they have more money than god, and if we hold firm for a price we will get it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
This is prefaced on the fact he wants to go to the Saudi league. Yeah the money is great bit as Mane, Henderson and others have shown the standard is shiite and you play in mostly empty stadia.
I don't reckon he's one of those players and would prefer to play at the very top most of his career.
I’d like him to get a two year extension and for us to spend £150m again.
It’s a big enough change to replace Klopp, to replace Salah as well would be tough and whoever we do replace him with won’t be getting those numbers in all likelihood.
I’m becoming increasingly concerned about Trent too.

I have no doubt that a Saudi club would pay £150m for Salah. One offer 300m Euros for Mbappe and were prepared to let him leave for Madrid after one season. The reason is that he would be an iconic signing for them and money is just not a consideration. Well, Salah would be equally iconic.
I do doubt whether Salah would want to go there to play whilst he's still capable of challenging for the top prizes. He could still get a great pay-day from them in 2 or 3 years tbh.
I'd love him to sign a 2 year extension and stay with us.

I've got 15 points from Gvardiol sat on the bench to come in. So I need 12 points out of the Spurs v Chelsea game to get something from the game week. 12 points from Palmer, Porro, Johnson & Werner. Possible. Another Palmer hattrick would be very welcome.

So yesterday Arsenal scored 2 corner goals with in-swigging corners. Keeper could not deal with it.
Our last 2 corner goals have come from in swinging corners but after we score we got back to out swingers. I don't get our obsession with out swingers which is like 90% of the time.
Against Spurs every corner has to be an in swinger and this is something I hope Slot is a fan off.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Outswingers have served us well over Klopp's tenure though.

Can’t see it with Virgil and Alisson for some reason, partly their contracts I guess, but Trent would be a brilliant signing for Real if we’re honest.

Who knows the slotmeister may come in and tear the league up. We’re still a good side with good players recent performances aside

Blimey Fred
We may very well sell Salah but I hope we don't, we need a reliable scorer while the stuttering attack develops, and obviously he's been a legend for us for years. Would have loved him to get more prem goals than Henry in the league but he still needs like 19 apparently.
Also, we usually sign a replacement before letting a player leave, I guess unless Diaz shifts over
My preferred option would be to keep those that contribute to the matchday squad on a regular basis.
Players like Matip, Thiago, etc can go...then we also need to offload those that are loan that we don't see here long term.
There books can be balanced without disrupting the team nor selling our most prized asset.

A DM, a CB, maybe a LB and maybe an attacker...that's about it.
A change in tactics and playing the players in the roles that suit them to a tee can do wonders for this side.
Tbh its all about finding the balance. That's should Slot's major priority with this team.
There's definitely some room in the budget next season when looking at the players who are guaranteed/highly likely to go without selling Salah. FWIW, I think we should sell him if a huge offer comes in but I can understand those who say he should stay no matter what.
If rumoured fees/wages are to believed, the club will be avoiding costs of nearly 30M next year simply by turfing out the following:
Thiago - 8M transfer fee amortisation and 10M wages (200k per week)
Matip - 5M wages (100k per week, no TFA)
Adrian - 3M wages (60k per week)
Phillips - 3M wages (60kpw)
30M per year reduction in opex allows based on 5 year contracts and 100kpw wages to buy two players at fees of 50M each. And this is before considering that revenue will be higher next season due to CL money.
Obviously bit of a back of a ciggie packet calc but there will be money available for Edwards to spend. Just depends on how much surgery he thinks the squad needs. I think Edwards is a bit egotistical so I wouldn't be surprised if he decides to ring the changes though, especially if the rumours are true about his unhappiness with Klopp's say in squad management over the last few years.
