Wharton is the player I would like us to sign. I don't need two seasons of a sample size to know he is quality on and off the ball.

He has played in 16 Premier League games ever.

I like the look of him too, but he’s played 1305 prem minutes, rarely on the TV, and was then thrust into the England squad. To then go to the most successful club in England, fighting for the league and CL, it’s massive.

I mean if we signed him I’d be happy for sure, depending on the price, I don’t see us picking up many more points with him as our first choice DM at this stage, which for £50m he’d have to be.

Also, is he that much better than Bajcetic? I don’t know but if I’m thinking it, Edwards will be.

I’d like some signings now too, and yeah it’d be great if they were signed, settled and had a pre-season, but that’s football and these are five year contracts.

Apparently it's £50m plus Gomez

If Gomez is sold then that does mean we need another CB who isn't Sepp.

If Gordon is coming in I think that means Diaz if off.

We don’t need six forwards and could get a nice fee.

I know he's not everyone's cuppa but Gordon signing sounds exciting to me.

I’ve nothing against Joe, nice that, and he’s good at lots of things. He excels at absolutely nothing though, and just on an armchair fan excitement way, I’d rather see Gordon at the club next season than Gomez.

Saying that, it’s a good deal for Newcastle too, even if they did want Quansah initially.

OK. So sell Diaz, sign a DM and a CB?

I also predict a 1000% increases of Gordon is a diving cant comments/articles.

Sounds good to me.

Call me greedy but keep Diaz and have 6 forwards. Gordan can play on the right too.

We know Jota will get injured at some point.

Definitely need a forward this summer as I imagine Diaz will be off next summer if not this one, Salah is unknown right now but potentially going, and Nunez we'll know for sure next summer whether to stick or twist.

Worst case scenario we could be looking at needing to replace all 3.

Apparently he was offered to us for £35m + Quansah but we offered them Gomez instead and then they walked away. This was before the PSR deadline

27 goals/assists according to FF last year.

If we can get something similar with Salah producing something similar from the right it sounds pretty exciting to me.

I've read it was £30m + Gomez who was valued at £45m with medicals booked but then Newcastle managed to do other deals to cover PSR so didn't need to do the deal.

Quite a few journos mentioning it today though which suggests a briefing to me.

Not quite understanding this deal if true. Sign a worse player for the left hand side than the one we have and lose a centre back, who's versatility has got us out of a hole on numerous occasions, in the process.
