I just wish they would squeeze all this pointless international crap all in at the end of the summer. Start the club season a month later if that is what necessary.
======
This would make the most sense by far, also because international managers and teams would get proper time together and the chemistry of playing games together in succession, instead of a couple of weeks here and there. It can be argued that international football suffers from this system too because how finely can you tune a team in just 2/3 days?

UEFA and FIFA only care about money and revenue so whether this is feasible depends on whether it would make them more money or less money. The enjoyment of the fans is way low on the list of priorities.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yep agreed
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Actually what would happen in this scenario is the players won't have played with each other for around 8 months and it would be like starting over every time the 'national team season' began.

The current system is the only way it works and is probably the best it has been with most of the meaningless friendlies now replaced with the Nations League, giving more incentives and more chances to the smaller nations to qualify for the big tournaments.

Yes - it's frustrating when your club aren't playing because they have to break for international weeks but that's just impatience really and the practicality of when the games are played is more important than some impatient fans.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think you are both right!

For me I think that you don't need to cancel international breaks within a season, but equally there doesn't need to be as many as there is.

Surely if you cut them by a third or by half and moved them the remainder to early summer, then I think it would benefit everyone.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well this is why they have two games now when they used to break for one, to reduce the number of breaks. In two years out of four there are international tournaments and the only two the players need to use the time to rest and recuperate as they don't get much time outside of this.

I'd be quite happy for international football to go completely but I'd say the overwhelming majority in the football world want it to remain. I think the current situation is the best it has been and I don't see many solutions. My personal solution, which is not really a solution at all but would at least mean the domestic game isn't stop start, would be to stop for international games for a four week period during the season and get them all out of the way, either Nations League of qualifiers, then recommence the season. You would find the managers of the national teams would then rotate their teams much more which would mean players would benefit from some rest also.

You guys underestimate the privilege of representing your country at the highest level...especially if you're a sportsman
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If it's such a privilege the why do players regularly feign injury to avoid joining up with the national team?

Perhaps it's possible the players don't like the idea of mid-season international breaks either.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I never hit you man...why you hitting me?

Well that's a strict interpretation. They don't need to completely remove the international breaks. I think we have 5 international breaks? They can cut that down to two breaks, one each side of Christmas. Play the other 3 at the end of the season?

So six games at the end of the season. What about the two seasons out of every four there's a tournament? That's a lot of games to cram in when players have just completed a season of football, at a time when pushed to their limits due to it being the business end of the season.

1-0 hungary szob winning the ball bk. now hungary keepers just put the ball down on the 6 yard line and szob dribbled away with it and the ref gave a free kick 8 yards out or so. Gakpo hits the keeper. Odd

Class player, mad to think we got him on a free transfer.

Played such a key role in that first full Klopp season in providing us with some much needed stability at centre back to get us back in the CL, following the comedy banter years of Lovren and Skrtel.

Also great contributions the two seasons after and also 21/22 he was fantastic. Just couldn’t shake the injuries in the other years though.

Problem is, going by managerial appointments since Fergie, United don't care if their manager can speak English, or even manage very well.

A mistake from Caoimhin Kelleher, who had been superb on the night, gifted Petros Mantalos Greece's late second goal in Athens.
