I'd say Slot has gone back to playing Salah the best way in terms of getting the ball to him early and closer to goal.
He's not stuck on the wing in isolation anymore or being tasked with being our chief creator from that side...which always baffled me when we chose that tactic in games.

So. Early days but tactically is Slot an improvement on Klopp?

It's a ridiculous question but I'll answer anyhow. We don't know if the more pragmatic approach is an improvement as that will be judged on trophies. However certainly nothing I've seen so far comes close to the free flowing high energy style that some of Klopp's teams had. We also have to remember that Klopp built the whole team, whilst Slot is using the team Klopp built.

In fairness exciting football doesn't necessarily correlate with tactical prowess. Klopp was outplayed tactically a few times in the last couple of seasons.

You wont find any manager, in any league, in any era that hasn't been outplayed tactically on occasions.
I beginning to think some underestimate our team circa 2018-21. It wasn't just an exciting and energetic team, it was rock solid in defence and disciplined in midfield. That team could press and overwhelm teams just as comfortably as it could sit back and counter. Would predominantly attack with width but could drop Firmino back and bring Mane and Salah in for a narrower attack.
I think Carlo's comment about knowing what Liverpool would do introduced this narrative that Klopp's teams were predictable. I don't think it's true. Pep has said many times that he struggled to work out Klopp teams.
Slot? It's been a wonderful start but just that. Let's see how he copes when teams start to understand better the way we play, come up with their own plans to counter us. See how he copes when the pressure increases and he gets to the sharp end of the CL, or has to go on a 10 games winning streak next spring just to keep pace with City. Because Klopp did those things and walked away with trophies.

Agreed, Slot is doing great but he's not my real dad
The Virgil long ball to Salah to isolate a defender in a 1 on 1 seems to be a Slot change. Or at least the frequency we're using it as an out ball. And Salah's outside of the boot crossing is so ridiculously good that it means his right peg being only good for standing doesn't really matter any more. He's clearly been working on that outside of the boot technique over the years and it's such an effective way to create chances now.

All fair comments, we were so so good under Klopp during that period and if it hadn't been for City we'd have been talked about with that great Barcelona team and others.
The thing I do find crazy about Slot is that he's managed to do this without a single addition to the team.
The squad inherited is miles apart from the one Klopp inherited. And to achieve that on a net spend average of 30m a season in this market with most of the league spending more than that highlights further how good the job Klopp and Edwards etc did.
Mentioning the words net spend is probably gonna summon Hoody from the depths of his grave

Cmon man. In that 5 season period between 17/18 and 21/22 klopp had seasons where we hit 99, 97 and 92 points. He got to 3 champs league finals. You dont manage that without knowing a thing or 2 about tactics.
Slots had an amazing start, nothing more. Hes a lot more to prove before hes even touching the sides of what Klopp did. We shouldnt forget that.
