How dare you criticise Italian managers when an English manager has yet to even win the Premier League!

Bingo!

Games will be played with the emphesis on possesion, games at slow tempos for large periods.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
And that's the problem, don't let them play like that! Use your strengths.

If pirlo performs as ypu lot expect this "god" to perform and gerrard is outclassed, then fair enough. I suspect though that If gerrard plays welll it wont really ve mentioned and it was just "an off day for pirlo the demigod".

England's tactics were woeful that night and exactly what Pirlo needed to perform. Gerrard is being massively underrated but then he always has for England. Gerrard would tear up the Italian league, even now. Pirlo wouldn't last a full season in the Premier League, he'd be back to Italy in January. Not to take away from Pirlo that he has had a great career.

I guess you have first hand experience of seeing Italians come to England and flop

Pirlo schooled gerrard in 2005!!! Wtf....swear I saw gerrard score a goal, change the dynamic of the whole game and get a penalty...then play rb to stop milans winger!!!

Pirlo.....3-0 up and went to pieces didnt he??? It can be argued thatbyhat game shows gerrards qualities more than any other; interestingly vs pirlo....didnt gerrard win the dual??

Chasing the ball for.90 minutes??

Rushing about?

Who not keep posession......didnt rodgers use one of these buzz phrases. That if you have more posession that you have a higher win rate.

Hey, lets charge about!

IF Gerrard plays well????

You have just said how he is better than a player who is hyped by the media and football pundits....people who played at the highest level.

IF, IF, IF!!

Anyone saying to play a high tempo in Brazil is just stupid.

I'm not. GB's delusions know no bounds. It's entertaining, nonetheless.

Hard to judge this one, I dont know a great deal about Italy. Man for man, whos stronger, whos got the best first 11 and how many italians would get into England's team; how many of England team get into italys?

======

GB claims to know nothing about Italy. Bit then tepps everyone how much better a certain player is compared to Pirlo

You can keep possession but play on the counter at pace. There's no point letting Italy have the ball and not putting pressure on them. Other teams can match Italy that way, England can not. And one thing is for sure, there's no way in hell Italy can match England if they play to their strengths. It's exactly how Liverpool won the Champions League in 2005. Rushed teams from the front, didn't let them settle and countered them when they did get forward. We almost lost it due to this tactic in the final as Milan broke forward a couple of times and put balls in behind our defence when we had rushed them and had to change it up for the second half but it can work and I think it would work best against the Italians.

Gerrard in Istanbul is the most overrated performance EVER by far. I've seen that game about half a dozen times cos I loved the comeback and I cheered Liverpool that night but I never quite got the fuss about the Gerrard hype. He was absolutely schooled in midfield but because he scored a good header, dived for a penalty and attempted or hoofed a few hollywood balls from RB that didn't come off, it's almost put on par with Maradonna in '86.

I thought Rodgers invented that method of playing?

Do that, lose cheap posession and have to hunt the ball down in the heat/humidity?

But England are.not Liverpool....Italy are not Milan. This is international football. One game nearly 10 years ago is not a guide of how to win FFS!

Liverpool won the game cos Milan got sloppy and complacent for a few costly minutes and Liverpool profited from a good deal of fortune. Milan had the chances to put it to bed and they were far the better team that night. Hardly a blueprint of how England should approach the Italy match.

Sheriff

TOOR, so basically you're saying if we play like Liverpool did we'll get a draw.

Gerrard was outstanding that night Sheriff. Not just the quality of his box to box performance, his tackling, bursts forward and driving the team forward, despite being three-nil down but his leadership and determination also. He was largely bypassed in the first half but when Hamann came on, Gerrard was then outstanding. If Gerrard wasn't on the pitch that night, Pirlo would have had his hands on the trophy, not Gerrard.

I'm astounded, even now, despite witnessing it for years, the lengths rival fans will go to, to discredit Gerrard.
