1/2. Seedorf/Pirlo
when all 5 were playing no one would have put the 3 English players in the same class bracket. Why rewrite history after the fact to make English players look better. That's the only reason why an English player would be in contention.
then its Gerrard/Scholes as 3/4
then Lampard
all fantastic players though
Robbin
I'm fine mate. I've also be on here since the old 606 and I don't filter anyone. Listen I here a lot of rubbish on here and childish comments ( probably made a few myself) but no one is perfect.
To judge someone on a football forum is just not right.
Just think you overstepped a line but again who am I to judge you.
That's my take.

I don't think anyones rewriting history to make anyone look better...
A lot of people had Scholes up there because even if he was Slovakian he was pure quality
Gerrard in his prime was a some player,IMO his commitment to Liverpool was unbelievable. Would have been very interesting to see where his name on that list would be if he joined Chelsea about 6 years back and after winning 2-3-4 league titles.
there wasn't a single human being on the planet (who didn't support United) who would have even put Scholes as an equal to Seedorf and Pirlo when they were all playing. Not a single person.
fair enough he was underrated at the time but not to the point that universal agreement that he was a tick below those two was wrong. That's tinfoil hat conspiracy nonsense.
Don't worry I'm not upset that you think I'm a bit of a moron. Everyone is entitled to there opinion robbing.
Nedved was better than Seedorf as well
and Figo and Zidane (obviously)

I agree.
Pirlo
Seedorf
Scholes
Gerrard
Lampard
I believe Gerrard had a 2-3 year spell that probably out shined Scholes.
The problem with to bongs argument of not liking people's names for players such as cocaine jack, sloppy Steve etc is all he has proceeded to do is insult and call people names. Ironic or is it hypocrisy? Hmmmmm

Well me and a lot of other people disagree with your opinion and TBH considering the amount of stuff said on this forum regarding English players I highly doubt his hyping up is due to his Englishness.
He was one of our best players and during his career we were one of the top teams in Europe.
they were all brilliant players Arab
no one would say otherwise
He was better than a lot of those brilliant players though...
I feel like as more and more time goes on, the more Scholes rating is going up.
I think he was a very good player. His range of passing was sublime, loved the way he barely seemed to look up but still fire a 40 yard pass onto the toes of a team mate.
However, was he ever really a world class central midfielder in the mould of Xavi, Pirlo, Zidane, even in his best seasons? I'm not convinced, personally.
As for Gerrard, I think at his best, he probably was among that group, if not quite their equals, but unlike that group I don't think he done it consistently enough at the top level of the game.
Kaisers you're spot on.
English players are all so one dimensional. Scholes had a bit more to him so people rate him too highly. Mentally he was sublime but not the most effective player.

Sorry, but that's just wrong.
If you go to places like Spain, France, Italy etc. and talk football with people, I assure you most of them hold Scholes (and Gerrard tbf) up there with the top players of his generation, alongside the likes of Pirlo, Nedved, Seedorf etc.
It is not just an English thing at all.
10 years ago was the glolden age of centremids
we're in the messi ronaldo era now
"10 years ago was the glolden age of centremids

In what way?
I agree in terms of media focus on the "headline-makers" , but there are still top quality central midfielders around.

Is this from your experience? Cos I would beg to differ.
CMs are expected to do more these days. Not many teams can accomodate a CAM who doesn't help defend. Let alone a CM.

I've always found that people on the continent tend to underrate English players if anything. The only one in the past 8 or 9 years who seems to be rated as a truly top player over there is Rooney, and before that perhaps Beckham too.
Surely they would have rated Rio, Terry and Cole... aside from Scholes that is...
Terry was a little bit more of a specialist but Rio could go into any team and as long as they played a LB Cole would as well...
I would put Gerrard above Beckham IMO... though I do think Beckham can be a little underrated (in UK anyway) due to the insane levels of fame and press he received...
I remember actually being relieved when he left that at least he would make the news a lot less and I am not even the type to usually get annoyed by that type of thing but it got to insane levels...
Rival fans tend to dislike Gerrard for some reason.. weird
