Robbing_Hoody - Here, have some goals. You don't have to work for them. They're a gift. That's what we do now. (U6374)
How is it semantic?
I've taken your Manager's comments because they are pretty much word for word how I described it, and what you took issue with.
His starting position was on the right. If he roamed into the middle, he would go back to his position on the right.
He wouldn't roam behind the striker and then stay there for half hour.
This conversation is ridiculous.
The guy that told Gerrard where to play says he was a right sided player that season.
When it comes to proving a point, it really doesn't come any more conclusive than that.
So he was playing on the right whilst playing in the middle with the ball? Always thought Gerrard was good enough to get on the end of his own crosses.
Didn't Gerrard complain about playing on the right

He was playing on the right with freedom to roam / cut inside.
You claim everytime Liverpool had the ball, he moved into the middle.
Tell me, how does one cut in and score if he's already in the middle?
Why do people bother replying to Winston?
He only ever wants to argue, and regardless of the facts presented to him, he will argue on. And on. And on. Then shift the goalposts and argue some more.
Worst poster on here IMO.

Right, so you left after I told you season where it's well known that Gerrard was played on the right.
Now you return to fling childish comments around.
Please, grow up.

btw he/she has me filtered so won't know who you're talking to!
Filtered because I pointed out how often he uses the word "pathetic" and that I had become used to seeing "Winston" and "pathetic" in the same sentence. awww bless.
I'm sure you had the discussion about Gerrard on the right not 2 months ago
Greatteamswinit4times I'm dogmatic (U6008)
I didn't move the goalposts - I made a mistake and said the wrong season, and then corrected myself.
Given that you so confidently predicted that Gerrard didn't play out on the right, and then scarpered when it was shown when he did, it is perhaps you that's trying to move the goalposts - it was never a season specific comment.
Being childish?
Joining a football discussion to make personal comments is childish, yes.
What makes me chuckle is someone who does that goes onto think he's in a position to judge other people. Bizarre.
if you want to discuss football, like an adult, let me know.
Robben van Persie #20 - He Shcores When He Wantsh (U1145)
We did, and I actually changed a lot of my views on the subject thanks to that debate.
There are a few children on here (see above), but that debate was a great example where the Liverpool fans made some points I hadn't considered and I accepted them.
This was never a debate about Gerrard, and he wasn't really criticised - it just seems some people don't want to accept that Benitez himself says that he played on the right.
Not sure why.

You can make your own judgements, of course. I do it all the time.
The difference?
If I don't like the way someone conducts themselves, or something they've said, I either ignore them or filter them.
What I don't do, is derail a football discussion with meaningless judgements about someone's personality based on a few comments on an internet forum.

Let's go old school with an inside right forward

Fair point.
Not really what I referred to though, was it?
If I've said someone's being pathetic - and I stand to be corrected - it's either after that person has gone off topic, or as part of a football related response.
Certainly open to criticism, but not the same as what I'm criticising you for.
Robbing_Hoody - Here, have some goals. You don't have to work for them. They're a gift. That's what we do now. (U6374)
Fair enough.
But all I was doing was repeating what Benitez had referred to him as.
Although I think I did incorrectly use the term 'wide right' at some point.
That's surely not particularly controversial, is it?
If Gerrard played on the right of a midfield four, I would call that wide right.
Or right midfield...it's just technicalities
Removed inside forward strike winger?
I can understand why they'd disagree with the word 'wide' - he certainly wasn't a winger and wasn't instructed to remain out wide, or to stretch the play.

A false nine in many peoples eyes
Well let's settle on a "false 7.5" then as he wears an 8 but came in from the right.
Glad we all got that cleared up.

For me he plays in the hole as and inside right wing half. Hugging the line just behind the striker
