I dont need to ask Winston. I said you seemed to back up the idea. When you get on an article with a seemingly anonymous comment the assumption is that you are commenting on the overall debate. The onus is on you to indicate otherwise. Same way you did in your other posts.

Personal comments lol. This Winston lad always ties himself up in knots then scuttles off.

What about Puskas???

One of the greatest of all time - better than Scholes.

Gerrard, however, was head and shoulders above both of them.

Try reading back - I have not said anything hypocritical.

I note the lack of proof that you claimed to have. Says it all.

I guess anything to get out of the fact that you claimed Gerrard didn't play right midfield for a season, and were proven wrong?

Sad times.

And there's where your mistake is.

How is saying that Scholes is a more complete player than Gerrard intimating that Gerrard played multiple positions because he's not good enough?

Seriously - the two ideas are completely unrelated.

You made a mistake and because you did it in such a forceful manner, you now can't just admit you made a mistake.

Seriously - read it back... your excuse makes no sense.

I believe the quotes from Benitez proved everything we needed to know.

Or are you now claiming that you knew he played right midfield, but didn't play wide right?

This made me laugh.

Scuttles off.

Or - goes home.

However you want to spin things, I guess.

Gerrard's 'roaming' to the middle all the time was criticised heavily as a lack of discipline by the usual suspects (always looking to find a criticism despite Rafa's quotes that he was told to roam).

Winston, you're just being a pedantic pain in the balls.

We watched him every week. When (and it wasn't every week as we had plenty of others who were 'on the right' but didn't cut in) he lined up on the right according to the sky team sheet, he wasn't ever on the right in opposition half. He almost never put in crosses from the right because he wasn't there. He scored lots of goals shooting from the centre. His pathetic detractors called him undisciplined for not playing on the right. He never took on fullbacks because they played in wide positions (and he didn't).

Give it up. You have been soundly been proven wrong and are falling back on pedantry.

2 points.

1. If you want to highlight the pedant, you need to look back at the Liverpool fans on this thread. The comments relating to Gerrard on the right weren't particularly important, yet they've been seized on because some people seemingly get offended by the suggestion he played there.

2. No, I've not been proven wrong.

The manager - the guy that told Gerrard where to play, clearly describes him as a right sided player that season.

He goes onto say that he cuts inside and scores, but doesn't hit the byeline.

As I say, it's not a particularly important point, but your incessant need to deny the plainly obvious is becoming an embarrassment to you all.

As I have said, if you have such as issue with it, you need to first speak with Benitez, because I've not said anything that he hasn't.

I should just add, I enjoyed the recent debate about this subject and learnt a lot from the Liverpool fans, who helped changed my view.

Just because some people are arguing a specific point and I'm continuing, doesn't mean I'm criticising Gerrard.

Perhaps, to keep this civil, you can specifically tell me what part of what I've said you disagree with?

Because I've never disagreed that he came inside, and was given the freedom to roam. I've never said he was undisciplined in the role, and I've never claimed he took on full backs.

Heading out now anyway, so will pick it up later! Not trying to argue with you guys though, so for my part, my apologies for where I've reacted too abruptly, too quickly.

Because the point about Gerrard being a complete player was made in response to a point about him being played in multiple positions because he wasn't good enough for CM. You just waltzed in with that comment leaving your comment open to interpretation. When you do that the assumption is that you are commenting on the overall debate. It is on you to indicate otherwise. I cant believe I have to explain this to you. Why did you not use copy and paste with that post. I pulled you up on it and instead of clarifying who the post was intended for you became abusive. After that you started crying about 'personal comments' made about you. You are a joke Winston

It wasn't made in response to that - it was simply posted after it. There's a difference.

You berate me for not labelling the post with your name, yet feel comfortable insisting that you knew what it was in response to?

That doesn't stack up.

I was commenting on the overall debate, and specifically your comment.

You didn't pull me up on it. You were over the top with your criticism initially, which turned it into an argument.

The main problem with your explanation is that it doesn't make any sense. Saying that I think Scholes is a more complete player than Gerrard in no way backs up the suggestion that Gerrard wasn't good enough, because the two are not related.

The idea that they are related is laughable, which I'm afraid means that you're the joke.

Just on this point. Here's my reply:

"I said nothing of the sort.

Somewhere on this thread, I've said I think Gerrard has been exceptional for Liverpool.

But hey, you just make things up. Whatever helps."

Abusive?

What a joke. Your lies are taking you round in circles.

Lesson: admit when you're made a mistake. It's far easier.

No, I didn't.

Coming from you, that is a joke.

You joined the thread specifically to interrupt a football discussion with personal comments about me.

Seriously, are you oblivious to your hypocrisy?
