Tbf Rooney ain't the brightest so you're rarely going to hear anything interesting from him. RVP is clearly more comfortable speaking in public.

I'm still not sure whether Rooney has what it takes to be a good captain but I understand why he was given the armband for both club and country. I just hope it doesn't make his position in the side untouchable even if he's have a poor run of games.

I've always states my preference for RVP in the #9 role but it does sound like he needs an operation and might be out for a while. Is there actually any more concrete information regarding this supposed operation, surely it should be sorted out the sooner the better?

Apparently RVP has said it's nonsense that he needs an op

In the article on the daily mail (I know!! But there are direct quotes!) He says -

'I am impressed that people come pick up the imagination to invent something like that,' Van Persie told Fox Sports NL.
'I do not know where it comes from and can say with my hand on my heart that I won't be in a hospital to have the operation.'

So thats positive.

Nah, rvp's been miles better for United than Rooney. Particularly the last year

These anti Rooney articles are so tiresome now

Just get behind our fakking new captain

Lvg picked him for a reason and there is absolutely nothing in his comments that are wrong whatsoever

Get over your hatred of a United legend ffs

I was thinking the same

If RVP doesn't need an op and us fit, then falcao is a strange buy

posted on 2/9/14

I'm sorry but they both said exactly the same thing. Maybe Van Persie said it a little more eloquently but they made exactly the same point.

Pretty much agree with 1982.

We can debate the ins and outs of Rooney the person, the leader and the player all we like.

But usually the player with the highest standing for club and country, especially one that has played for so long, will get the captain's armband so it's no shock or surprise he got them.

And there wasn't really any other stand out alternatives.

RVP has done nothing to warrant the captaincy at United and given his age he might not even have much of a future here.

A fully firing strikeforce of RVP, Rooney and Falcao is scary, with Di Maria setting them up

OP, you're plain wrong about Rooney.

He's had a poor start to the season but so has RvP.

Last season RvP looked disinterest whereas Rooney was one of the few who made some effort.

There is room in our squad for both. No need to make crazy and mistaken statements about Rooney. Just come across as I'll informed and at worst, petty and spiteful.

It was, Macca.

We have just signed Falcao. We now have a attack that has Falcao- Rooney-RVP- Mata- Di Maria-

Can we all just get along and savour this moment as united fans.

What Paul Parker said I agree with 100%, Mata, Rooney and Rvp should've given their wages away after that Burnley performance.

LVG has got a huge decision to make in regards to who he picks, it will be interesting to know how well Rvp works with Falcao, as he and Rooney are just chit as a partnership. These are exciting times, and I do not care who gets dropped long as we make OT a fortress again.

Wazza behind RVP and falcao

I have no idea where the goals will come from

posted on 2/9/14

Don't forget RVP has had no pre season, you always hear about how much it helps, especially the older you get. Probably a big reason why he's looked rusty so far.

Gonna be interesting to see what we do with all 3 if they are all fit. Thing with Falcao he hasn't had a great season for over a year, is he in top form and fitness to be ready to be starting for us yet?

What is it with Parker and Rooney

It's not the first time he's had a mega pop at him

Has wazza done his mom or something
