You know me, I don't like talking about Wayne rooney

"If you put your opinion in an article, don't moan about wishing the old 606 was back just because all the responses don't say 'I agree'"

I explained that earlier, and I know full well you can't full believe that wish is based on a lack of support for my own opinion.

I'm not an idiot. I'm not some ridiculous wum. I valued the old 606 for a bunch of reasons. I miss it, and every so often some of the responses on here make me miss it more. That's all. If I got nostalgic and sad every time someone disagreed with me in life I'd have topped myself years back.

OP bit of a tool me thinks.

Along with Paul Parker.

RVP hasn't shown anything in the last year that he should be in the team ahead of Rooney.

Rooney's response to the Falcao questions just seems like he's not that confident in his own abilities to confidently say what RVP did about competition being good for the team etc.. Seems like he's genuinely a bit concerned for his place.

Both RVP's and Rooney's response contained soundbites in them. Rooney's response being the more genuine.

"OP bit of a tool me thinks."

Case in point Macca, if that helps explain it any better.

Yes he is. We've spent around 45 minutes establishing that. But I like how concise you are in a 'cut to the chase' kind of way. Good work.

No point writing long winded post she a few words sum it up perfectly OP .

Of course not, I can see where i went wrong. Trying to validate opinions is so 2008. I assure you it wont happen again.

"But RVPs are?

Your searching and reaching dude"

You excused Rooney's poor showing at the back half of the season due to his injury.

Do we only do that for Rooney and not for van Persie?

Not at all

I'm simply trying to act like you

Your the one who created an article about one of our best players last season, despite the drop in form

Where's your articles about the rest of our players, including RVP who was well below par all season?

For the record, I actually defend RVP and Mata just as much. I don't believe the press about him sulking. I think his injury was on his mind.

There are no articles like this about RVP though is there for me to defend him against

Honestly? I just don't get the Rooney hatred after everything he has done for United

He's stuck the ball in the back of the net 217 times now and counting. What about the memory of the overhead kick in the derby, the 30 yard volley v Newcastle!

Far less players get more recognition (eg ole) than Rooney does. I find it all a bit baffling

posted on 2/9/14

Mr C, conversely, you could say that Rooney knows he'll be in the team because he spoke of how it will effect his role - number 10 or alongside Falcao.

A friend of mine watched Falcao play in a friendly at the start of the season (think it was The Emirates Cup against Arsenal). Said Falcao was the best player on the pitch by a mile tand looked very sharp. He scored as well.

He's only 28 which is 3 years younger than RVP. He hasn't got a history of being injury prone. I think he could very possibly be the signing of the season. Playing once a week may help him as he gets back to full fitness too. Here's hoping. But you just can't pass up on a guy of his ability when he's available. I'm amazed Real Madrid passed up on him due to the notion that it would put Ronaldo and Bale's noses out of joint and that Benzema is a personal favourite of the president. They may well regret that decision come the end of the season.

Hope you're right.

There has to be a reason why Falcao didn't go to Real, even when at Atletico all the rumours were he wanted to go there and the main reason he moved to Monaco was to allow the transfer to Real after as a direct transfer from Atletico was never going to happen. That's why I'm still a tiny bit sceptical of the deal, sounds like he was offered around before we got him.

I thought I'd made it clear my feelings weren't simply based on last season alone though? My apologies if not.

And hatred is a strong word, and again, apologies if my absolute total disappointed at his performances and attitude over the last few years has come across as 'hate'. I don't hate him. I simply just don't think he's playing well, nor has he for a while, and I don't think that translates well into a captaincy role. I think RvP offers more to us, and I think he can offer more as a captain, BUT he's not Captain, and I can't understand why, but obviously accept the decision isnt based on my feelings!

Dont get me wrong, Rooney has provided loyal (ish!) service and some great moments. But I simply don't believe that can out weigh current ability and attitude.

I know a few have said he's played well (Brilliantly, in one opinion) but I simply can't agree, and if indeed he has, then how low must our expectations have sank if the last 2 years have shown us a brilliant Wayne Rooney?

To be honest, you're all probably right about RvP not being captain for good reason. So maybe my beef is really that I dont think we have anyone worthy of it. But that's a different 1 star article...

I still don't get why you say the last few years although I see it has now become the last 2

I'll say again, in the last 5 years he has stuck the ball in the onion bag about 120 times

What more do you want?

I realise the guy is a prat but come on, on the field he hasn't been the best in the world but why does he have to be?

If he continues to underperform for the next 5 years and only scores another 120 goals. That will put him on nearly 340 goals. That nearly a hundred more than Sir Bobby

I don't expect him to do that but I do think he has a chance of 300

We have some great forward players and Rooney has been made our captain. Let's see how he does eh? It's daft to suggest in the last decade, he hasn't earned a shot at it. Far more than van persie has

On that note I'm heading to bed so I'll bid you all a fond Bon jour.

Rooneys been a great buy for United, not captain material though, too petulant, irresponsible

Didn't his form drop off after he got the new contract?

This might be in the realms of conspiracy theories but a part of me sees the Hernandez to Real loan as a way to smooth Falcao's passage to Real.

They do us a favour taking Chica off our hands for a year, and we do them a favour providing an abode for Falcao, see how he copes with the rigours of the PL. Next year, they return Chica and splash out on Falcao. Let's face it, Falcao is the ultimate mercenary.

Hey, in my head it sounded less labyrinthine!
