A fully firing strikeforce of RVP, Rooney and Falcao is scary, with Di Maria setting them up

Wazza behind RVP and falcao

I have no idea where the goals will come from

Set pieces unless we actually start playing football.

I'm not overly convinced about RVP ATM although I gave in in way given up on him

He hasn't been good for over a season now

I would fakking love if if we got the RVP of 2 seasons ago back though

Some journalist on the radio today was saying he's looked really rusty this season in the league and pre season. No idea if there was any truth in it though.

Falcao is better than RVP anyway.

The Mata of a few years ago would be nice too!

Wasn't great last season but still had the best goal to minutes ratio of all our players. Most of the squad were sh-t last season tbf, even Rooneys form massively dipped into the second half of the season.

God this forum has literally become a joke now.

I made more of a point of been impressed by RvP's comments more than anything, simply calling Rooney's typically cliched, which I dont think steps out of line.

By all means dont pick up on a nice little bit about a youth player though.

BECAUSE THEN i had the audacity to say that i think RvP is a better player and professional, something I dont think is completely out of the realm of possibility, and that Rooney has under performed for years and I dont think he deserves captaincy, and honestly, it's just absolute vitriol towards an opinion.

I even backed it up with quotes, and a link! Is there some kind of ja606 etiquette guide I should read? Would it be better if I simply did a few 'My preferred line up' articles instead?

I really miss the old 606.

Matas still the same player he was 2 seasons ago, people really like to use the 'no pace' thing to claim he isn't good enough. His game isn't and has never been about pace, if you play to his strengths then he is still a world class player for us.

They were nice comments from RVP about Wilson. Still think it's a bit of a stretch to suggest those are the sort of things as to why he should have been picked as captain.

You state you're at a loss as to how he's captain of England and United. Well he's one of the all time top scorers for both and has played for both for over ten years.

RVP has had one good season followed up by another one where he was pretty average, lazy and disinterested.

But he makes nice comments about Wilson so it makes him better captain material? I'm not even Rooney's biggest fan, many on here, will testify to that.

But it's obvious why Rooney was made captain and RVP wasn't.

Jesus wept, it's plain for us all to see you have an agenda

You're not even subtle about it

Rooney has under performed for years?

I could give you over a hundred reasons in the last 5 years that shows he's been pretty good

Yes, rvps comment about Wilson was good but he did forget we have another player in will Keane that might take the statement the wrong way

This article was all about Rooney though and we all know it. You haven't even tried to hide it so don't come across as holier than thou if some of us challenge it

"But he makes nice comments about Wilson so it makes him better captain material? I'm not even Rooney's biggest fan, many on here, will testify to that. "

Yes, to an extent, it's an example of the attitude I believe RvP possesses, and a willingness to go out of his way to mention one of the youngsters. I did admit of course that I was reading into it, but I liked the effort he's put in there, and as a young team mate I'd be reading that and be over the moon.

My issue with him been made captain isnt his stats over the years. It's his current form and ability. I dont think either warrant a captaincy. Should we be handing it out to those who've simply given us long periods of service, or should it go to someone who can make a difference leading on the pitch and shows some semblance of consistency and attitude?

I'd prefer the later but I understand why others may not. And in that case obviously I should understand why LvG picked him. So that's that one answered!

RVP has had 1 good season for us. Last season I dont think anyone can judge any one of our players on. No one aside from De Gea came out of that with any credit. But he did have many good years with Arsenal.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
I was listening to the radio earlier and they were saying we should sell mata in jan for anything above 15 mil and it's no wonder Jose got rid

I just shook my head. A couple of poor games and he's now pants too

Like scholay says, we have fab options up front now, mata included, RVP included, Rooney included, falcao included, etc

Why do people overreact to a couple of poor games? It's so tiresome

I said at the weekend RVP Rooney and mata were all terrible. They were. That doesn't mean they are all suddenly chit ffs

Op

Care to explain how many years Rooney had been pants for now?

I wont hide it. How could I? You assuming I am trying to is exactly my point here. It's blatantly obvious my article had an agenda, as any single article/opinion in the universe has. The points I raised weren't done out of spite, I have no personal victory to be had over Rooney here.

Challenging an article, a bunch of opinions, is one thing. The way people fire up on here is something else though. It's always so personal. It doesnt matter if I write the above, in what I thought was at least a digestible way that may prompt some kind of semi decent response, or if I simply title a blank article 'I hate Rooney'. The responses come through exactly the same.

As for holier than thou? Nah, not at all. Just wish there wasnt such a knee jerk to see each article as a personal attack, and treat it as such when responding.
