I would like to know what makes Kompany so special in the eyes of some of you?
---------------------------
Strong in the air, strong in the tackle, pacey, rarely gives up penalties or gets sent off, a leader and organizer of the rest of the defense. He's head and shoulders above most CBs in the league right now

The Great AFL you are clueless.
Ask any Chelsea fan their opinion on Cahill and they'll hardly have a bad word to say.
Phil Jones gets a bad rap on here but he's been impressive at CB the last 6 months or so. One of our best performers this season.
I'm not sure you've seen either of those two play very much
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I couldn't care less what Chelsea fans have to say about Cahill. I am saying that he is average. I watch plenty of football, I have seen him enough times to know that I am correct.
I'm not even going to entertain your comment on Phil Jones.

Agree with that, melts.
Especially about Silva. I think you miss him more than any player. He just knits everything together.
Since Pellegrini has come in I also think his consistency has increased. People say he is hit or miss, and I think under Mancini that was true to an extent, however, whenever I watch you guys under Pel even if he's not got an assist he's usually the most influential player in the City team.

That's for you Isle of Manc. Do the right thing and do it legally.
We aren't in the CL, Fab. It's Liverpool that have got Basel.
Relax Alexis, no need to get all worked up
As a United fan I wish we had Kompany. I think anyone with half a brain can see his attributes, they don't need explaining AFC. The acid test is that a team as good as City look shaky when he's not there.
Absolutely Darren. He used to be left side in quite a rigid 442, he's got a bit more scope to move centrally nowadays and he has thrived under it.
Afl, decision making, marking and positioning with Kompany basically. The amount of times he stops an attack from developing by nipping in front of his man or being in the right place to get a block in.

He's been a better player than Koscielny in what little games they've both played this season

Your final sentence is what grates on me regarding how Kompany is regarded. "Head and shoulders". Really!?
He is many of those things. Don't think he's all that quick to be honest. Now, onto his faults; he's clumsy, he can panic in high pressure situations, he can make some pretty calamitous errors, and can occasionally struggle with the offside trap.

Who would be your top 5 CBs in the league AFL? There aren't too many that stand out to me other than Kompany

From that, you must be judging him on the first few months of last season then? Absolutely he struggled with the offside trap when we first implemented it, Demichelis was better as he was used to it. Not now we have dropped a bit deeper though.
Kompany, Terry, Koscielny. I can't actually name five defenders in the Premier League that I consider good enough. I did mention that there is a real dearth of quialty defenders these days. I might add Vertonghen to that list at a push.

Why is this shocking? He's been our best CB by a country mile this year (not saying much) and we've conceded less.
Plus Koscielny has been quite poor in multiple games so far
Putting Koscielny's name alongside Terry and Kompany is just a disgraceful thing to do. Do you not think you're just overrating your own player here?

I'd agree with that, there isn't that many great defenders about. Changing face of football, all about the defensive shield nowadays.
I might relent slightly and say that Kompany is the best defender in the league, but it says a lot about the quality of defenders these days. Ten years ago, a player of his ilk wouldn't be in the top five in the league.
Mata
Hazard
Silva
Do maria
Fabregas.
Neither would Koscielny. Doesn't stop you overrating him.
