In Robb's defence there is some truth to managers being lucky.
But you need to let Moyes go. He wasn't good enough and did a poor job.
Rob's a weird one. I was of the opinion that he would never blame the manager for anything because he staunchly defended Moyes and Fergie's mishaps.
But he's been quick to stick the knife in this season. Maybe it's because he's foreign? He slates foreign players more than English ones.

No it doesn't. De Gea's reflexes are well documented so they are expected. Just as top strikers scoring goals are expected.
It's not like we've been relying on them every week either.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No, but in 3 of our last 4 games we've needed them massively.
I'm not saying we're rubbish. Far from it. But having at least 5 big refeering decisions go in our favour and needing DDG to keep us in games signifies that we haven't been as good as some would think.

I also hope we sign OG this January.
Injuries are an excuse, it's been shocking. We have been poor defensively because we cannot play the same back 4 to get any consistency. I'm not saying out first choice defence would be the best in the world but it'd be better than we give them (individually) credit for, if they could play together every week.
Imagine Chelsea and City with 2 or 3 of Terry, Ivanovic, Cahill and Kompany, Zabaleta, Clichy unavailable every single game, for example.
Back to the OP, we've been lucky at times but have also played well at times. It's not all down to luck (the few points we have). We still need to improve more and get a run of wins going as 13/30 is actually shocking for Manchester United
We should also have had a penalty in each of our 6 opening fixtures, so enough of this lucky crap thanks
Our injury list is already as long as Chelsea's probably will be by the end of their season
It is your own fault you can't grasp something beyond your own understanding.

Please show me a teamsheet this season after the transfer window shut where we put out a bad team. One that you thought we were in some kind of injury crisis.
We've used 31 players this season. 10 more than any club. We have a huge squad with many good players and can withstand injuries. Yesterday in the second half was massively the exception rather than the rule.
I usually just ignore any notion of luck, good or bad. There are usually valid reasons why things happen, it isn't a case of luck. De Gea making saves isn't luck, it's the fact he's a good keeper. Equally as has been talked about on a previous post, Rojo's injury isn't bad luck, it was a rash challenge and he got what he deserved.
The only thing I would say is true regarding 'luck' (both good and bad), is that you make your own luck in that actions will likely make elements out of your owns hands more likely to happen. In that someone who stays at home doing f-ck all is unlikely to get any 'luck', if he goes out, there is a higher probability for him to encounter an outside element that could cause what people perceive to be 'luck'.
We are where we are right now not due to any luck or bad luck but because of actions we have taken and are responsible for which have resulted in the consequences we see today. Once we start believing in this bad luck bs the only likely outcome is that it will begin to have a negative effect on how we think with a real believe that anything we will do will end up being negative which is basically the mentality of a loser.
Basically, luck (good or bad) is bullsh-t. Be positive and have positive actions and positives things will likely happen.
As Bad Brains said ' Hey we got the PMA'.
But you need to let Moyes go. He wasn't good enough and did a poor job.
----------------------
I think that works both ways though.... LvG is getting an easier ride than he deserves because he is following a complete disaster of a season.
The improvements we are seeing are not really huge steps for a manager of LvG's quality and the huge investment he was given. "A step up from Moyes's UTD" is really not enough.
Hopefully a bit of luck with injuries and a boost in confidence will bring about improvements to the level that we should be expecting.
Last season you would have looked for every little positive you could find to justify we're making progress despite getting hammered by City 3-0, having an absolute shocking 10 months, yet this time, we actually didn't play that bad and all of a sudden we were lucky not to lose by more goals...like seriously WTF.

Actually, that shows a lack of football knowledge from you again. Was he good enough for United? Probably not but he is not a bad manager.
Good luck with the journalism course. You've almost got enough knowledge to get a job at the Sunday Sport.
Swings and roundabouts.
We had some poor decisions go against us in the first few games.
De Gea didn't make any miraculous saves against City and Chelsea.
We have been a bit fortunate with some of the refereeing in the last few games, granted.
But that doesn't mean that the same will happen in the coming games because playing City and Chelsea are a different kettle of fish to the games we have coming up.
I do agree with you we haven't been as good as some are making out.
That horrific injury list, further compounded by supsensions for three red cards, has contributed to our indifferent form.
I think because of this and the shape of the squad going into the season, and after the window, LVG is trying to juggle between imposing his ideology on the team and being pragmatic in trying to get results - this is why there's no clear vision about how we'll set up this season (look at all the different formations we've played) and given we've got many different styles of players in the side it's leading to some disjointed performances in terms of style of play.
That's my reasoning behind it. But whether people want to use it as an excuse or not we've still underachieved this season.
Robb must be Moyes Mr. 10%
Its easy to see just the negatives if that is what you want.
The flip side to nearly losing to Everton was that we could have been home and hosed before the late onslaught. Falcao snatched at a couple of decent chances (very good chances by his standards).
Similarly against Chelsea. On another day RVP could have finished with a hattrick. The pen incident, (from a wrongly awarded free kick) if you look at it again, initially JT grappled with Rojo, so it could have been a free kick to us in the first place, not to mention Cahill barging into RVP.
I don't buy the notion we are having more than our fair share of luck. Fair enough against City, Aguero could have had 2 pens (don't agree with the Rojo one, he toe-ended the ball), but then you could argue Zabaleta was very leniently let off without a yellow for nearly maiming RVP. He later got a yellow so should have been off.
Results wise we are underachieving. Performance wise we are improving. If you can't see it, maybe you don't want to?

Um, Fellaini on Aguero was a foul. Rojo's was a foul and Carrick's was a foul.
Watch again. They did a feature in sky sports and slowed them all down and all 3 were pens. Rojo should have been sent off.

Should 3 penalties been given against us? Yes.
No, 1 should definitely have been given, 1 definitely wasn't a pen and 1 was debatable

Um, Fellaini on Aguero was a foul. Rojo's was a foul and Carrick's was a foul.
Watch again. They did a feature in sky sports and slowed them all down and all 3 were pens. Rojo should have been sent off.
