Would be underwhelming. Idc what others say, we should be aiming for top 4 quality if we want to get to that level and he isn't that
----------------------------------------------------------------------
here we have the classic spurs fan.
who should we be getting? benzema?
what proven champions league striker is available in January and would come to spurs ffs.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Classic spurs fan for not wanting a Burnley-level striker in Ings? Signings like him are only gonna keep from competing with the likes of Arsenal and Utd properly. We have far too many average players at the club. We should have been all over Bony but fair enough if he wants to sit on City's bench, go for someone like Benteke
----------------------------------------------------------------------
you doughnut.
Harry Kane struggled when on loan at Norwich... so you don't want him either right?
Norwich were about Burnley's level...
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So because Kane has been an exception in regards to looking like an average player at a lower club and has improved greatly, that means any old player at one of the bottom clubs will?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
we are not talking about any old player. we are talking about danny ings. lets look at him in isolation.
pretty sure he has outperformed benteke this season, playing for a worse side..... yetstill you want benteke, and turning your nose up at Ings.
makes no sense
you do know that we signed defoe from a relegation team don't you?
good players do play for poor sides sometimes....
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Benteke has had an injury-hit season. His injury record might be a reason to be cautious tbf.
Yes obviously good players can play for poor sides, but Ings is not one of them, especially for a team like us.

anyway. Analog you are the classic spurs fan and there will be thousands others that think the same and think we are too good for a signing like this, and ignore whether or not he will actually improve the squad - which he undoubtedly would.
such a shame.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't want to accept mediocrity, sorry if you have a problem with that
Always difficult to judge strikers playing at lower level clubs to your own.
Ings has looked decent, to be fair, in a poor team, but it could go either way.
Can't be as bad as Ade and Soldado, though, surely?
I'd take Ings over Benteke. I don't think we are looking to sign anyone who is going to give Kane's confidence a knock (if possible!?) - we want to get someone in who can play in rotation.
We're not looking to suddenly go 442 are we? I know Kane can drop back behind a striker, but that means Eriksen out wide.
Analog. would or would he not improve the squad?
yes or no?

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Probably, but that's not the point. I wouldn't count on us signing a striker in the summer and we'll go into the season with Kane and Ings
well yes it is the point mate. you are turning your nose up at a young player with lots of potential who would improve the squad with his current ability.
now I am not saying he is the answer or that we shouldn't look elsewhere, but he doesn't deserve to have you turning your nose up at him, when he would improve us.
Danny Ings? Pfft
We need better
Wouldn't it be worth getting a striker in January, even if he's not top four calibre, if it can help push you over the line into the CL?
Getting into the CL next season would be a massive financial boost for Spurs as the CL tv money is trebling because of the new bt deal.

yes of course. but we are spurs fans therefore we want to sign players that would never dream of coming to spurs, let alone in January, like Tevez

lets here your shortlist for strikers that are gettable for us in January...
5 names seems a good length for a shortlist
If we went for Ings then I have to admit I'd be disappointed, but it would be better than not bringing anyone else in.
It's a risk as he's largely unproven. He might blossom, he might not. On the face of it from what I've seen of him at Burnley, and his record of 5 goals in 17, he doesn't look so great.
spurtle? ........

or can you? genuinely interested to hear your suggestions...
I take it benteke will be one.... any more?

People said the same about Kane at the start of the season and look at him now, he's on fire.
Chronic does this every time we are linked with a player fack off Chronic, if you cant see why people would be under whelmed by this ffs
Its a forum theres nothing wrong with people hoping for a better striker to be signed than Danny facking Ings
Chronic
It's hard for Spurs to attract the calibre of striker you crave because of wages.
I mean look at Arsenal, they've a much bigger wage bill than Spurs and they still haven't got a top four quality striker. Fortunately for them they have Sanchez.
Though moving a lot of the deadwood could free up wages. But aren't you quite strict with your wage policy anyway?
Dzeko on loan with City paying % of wages
Chronic
Berahino for one.
I mean I'm not a scout, and I don't know how available other players are to us, none of us do. My opinion is that there are probably better players than Ings around whether this country or another.

ah yes berahino the drink driver with a poor attitude, outed by his own teammates, and has a scoring record this season no better than Ings whilst playing in a better team.....
not to mention would be 4 times the price...
