You don't need D Day invasions now to bring down empires.
It's done on a keyboard not dissimilar to the one I'm using just now.
The world dip in oil was also engineered by the Saudis.
While all this is going on in all 4 populated continents groups are trying to break away from the larger association they have been in.
Just as in the UK.
If Scotland had been independent in 2008 we'd have gone down the Swanee.
There are what 5 million people in Scotland?
The SNP have just had less than 1.5 million vote for them
How is that an overwhelming majority?
They are chancer's. The people said no a few months back and they just can't take it. They effectively want to go against the will of the people
Was it a 3% swing in actual votes. They are over egging their position and the media fools are pandering

Oil prices tanked because OPEC won't curb supply. It would benefit Russia too much if they did and they're not really friendly with each other.
If OPEC wanted to, they could get the prices much higher. They're just choosing not to do it.
Decreased demand from relatively weak economies is a big factor as well.

I picked 2008 cos that was the start of the world wide Crash.

Oil tax money would not have gone very far Leo.
And will continue to rise and fall haphazardly.
As pointed out ad nauseam on here.
Once the oil is extracted it belongs to the US companies who drilled it.
Also it's the SNP who will disintegrate after Independence which I think is now inevitable.
Forward thinking SNP lefties like Rosanna Cunningham will join Scottish Labour.

Ah renewed my membership on Friday.
I was talking 2018 - 19.
Labour appear to be moving back to the centre ground. The favourite for the leadership has made his pitch on that basis.
Your hope for a leftist Labour party died with their defeat in this election.

Their was no cohesion whatsoever. They allowed the Tories to dictate the terms of the election, along with, ridiculously, UKIP.

It has nothing to do with Russia and everything to do with fracking in the states

we'll just have to completely disagree here

IMHO opec won't cut production as the capital funding for the development of fracking projects in the USA is dependent on a high oil price. If you drive prices down it halts these projects and puts existing fracking projects in soapy bubble, when loans come up for renewal. So I would say both of you are right.
