it's a complex set of variables
keeping prices low halts all sorts of investment in exploration and drilling (not just fracking)
but ultimately OPEC/Saudis can set the price higher whenever they want to. They look at who stands to gain from higher prices and they're choosing to keep them low. Because they're sitting on Smaug sized pile of 'gold'(money) and oil and are in no hurry to hand their competitors (with high cost methods of extraction) an advantage if they don't have to.

Listening to Sturgeon and Salmond is odd just now,as fat lad says the snp vote brings indy closer, whereas the wee Krankie woman claims the snp vote was not about indy, but rather anti-austerity,and some No voters backed snp?Confused.com.
Andrew marr suggested the snp leader is offered fiscal autonomy, and I thought Nicola would jump at this, but NO.She waffled, stuttered a bit and said she had to get the best deal for Scotland.
Is this nationalist bottling U-turn due to the fact that Scotland can't go it alone financially,as per head,Scots pay 3 per cent less than the rest of us in tax,but receive 15 per cent more per head, than other UK folk.
Amazing backtracking, when the snp is actually offered economic independence, the crap themselves, and cling on to London, for money,in order to blame the English tories for Scotland's woe's.
Pathetic.

Looking forward to England,NI and perhaps Wales saying enough is enough, and gtf snp Scotland, lol.
That would be funny, and may yet happen, through a federal arrangemet, and English votes for English affairs etc.
If a referendum takes the UK out of the EU,we may see how big the snp's plums are?

No worries Zach,buddy...........I hereby challenge you to have a booze session, like no other.
I genuinely felt the snp wanted control of finances, but apparently nae.............bottlers?
Then again,if Scotland is getting more in,than paying oot,it makes sense.Tight bassa's,and imagine having to operate austerity in an indy Scotland.Oh,how the tories would giggle.

I thought it was an accepte fact that Scotland did better than England, via thon Barnett Formula, and the stat of paying 3 per cent less tax, whilst receiving 15 per cent more spending per head.
If this was a tory lie,why is Nicola not demanding fiscal autonomy right now,or asap.Independence surely means being in charge of your economy, tarher than the "best deal for Scotland" patter that Sturgeon spluttered out, when Marr asked abot really holding the purse strings.

Methinks the snp and many Scots just want more power, with no increased responsibility for balancing the books,so they can play the big bad Westminster, nasty tory card..............while remaining safe in the arms of the UK economy, pretending to be all socially more aware than other Brit's................who actually have to pay more in,especially English workers.
Best of both world's.
Personally,I now feel the union is over, and time for Scotland to go it alone,so we no longer endure Scot nat whinging................and the media obsession with about 8 per cent of the British people.
Enough already,just do one.
That is the spirit Zach, and fair play to you,as it may or may not work, but at least you have the baws and integrity to say you want proper independence, mate.
Hats off to ye.

The half -way house,in out nat's get on ma tat's,especially the stupid wan's who no fek about about politics, and repeat dull mantra's about Westminster being to blame for everything, including the world economic downturn, which took place under Labour's watch, btw.

For years I was on the committee of the Ulster Independence Movement, and we advocated a non-sectarian new nation.............but it never took aff.
I realize Perfidious Albion is a pain, and can't be trusted, but reckon being part of a 70 million British UK is beneficial to NI................If 5 million Scots leave, then we go forward anyway.
Incidentally, half of Scotland,at least,is unionist,so independence will create a deeply divided set up,and that is a dodgy start, especially if economic hardship results.
