man city should have kept de jong.
don't see that Fernando or fernadinho are any better.
de jong is exactly what spurs need tbh
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Isn't he a free agent next month
And btw Chronic, the biggest disappointment at QPR was old 'Arry himself!

clicky.
as you know, I don't need any invitation to do some redknapp criticising
Ander Herrera. He's a good player, but he's no more talented than Cleverley. For us to kill the career of a home grown prospect like Clevs for a gifted foreign import, I expected a better player than Herrera is. I like him, and think he could be a good player for us, but I don't think he'll be anything like as good as Carrick, Keane, Scholes and co have been, and that was the standard I expected for us to dump an academy product who's as useful as Clevs.
From another team, Lamela. He's downright whank.

Luis, thought we were getting the best left back in the world.
Lovren, made even worse by the fact Southampton replaced him with Alderwierld who's been nothing short of brilliant.

tbf lovren is getting better with each game
Herrera was a weird sigining, even without CL Man U should be shopping a whole level up from that
Herrera is so much better than Cleverley that it would make an onion cry to hear you compare them.
1. A player that plays for your club
Oscar. Good on his day but has been anonymous about 2/3 of the season. Frustrating that we sold KDB/Mata because of him. Cuadrado's been terrible every time he's played but I guess he should be judged next season.
2. A player in the league, but who doesn't play for your club
Aside from the obvious ones like Di Maria and Falcao, has anyone said Lukaku? He's been good but not really £30m good.

I think Kompany's struggled since Mancini left tbh. Speaks volumes when their most consistent CB under Pellegrino has been Demichelis
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's what you get with these purists who don't really care about defending.
Not really Kompanys fault fully.
Chronic, I like Fernandinho but Fernando is the definition of average.

would agree with this but hes scored a fair few goals I think
In the EL maybe but in the PL? I'm not sure but he hasn't done as well as last season, although that's true for Everton as a whole really.

I'm not convinced. They're both good. Cleverley's effectiveness wasn't and isn't understood, and I don't think he;s going to get another chance to show what he's capable of now at the top level. We'll never know, but I'm convinced Clevs could have had a very good career with us. I wouldn't take him back now, because we can't afford any backwards steps, we have to press forward into the future.
In any case, Herrera hasn't done enough for me given his hype.

Fair enough, I did expect him to be really good from day one.
Cleverley was average, as shown by how average he has been for Villa. He's hardly been tearing it up...
Herrera has been pretty fantastic for us this season - easily the best signing of last summer.

Blind has been better for me, but Herrera wouldn't be far behind. "Fantastic" is a big fkcunig overstatement though.
Cleverley's a cog in the machine type of player. He's never going to shine or tear it up or stand out. But what he does with his movement in the middle of the pitch and great quick, one touch passing is help other players play better. He creates space for his teammates better than most players in the league. But this isn't something that pundits talk about. So it's something 99% of football fans don't realise.
If he were a bit more brave with his football and took himself 10 or 15 yards further up to field to try to influence the game in a more direct way, he'd be excellent.
Sorry, Cleverley is crap.
Herrera scored what, 5 or 6 goals? He had a really rough start to the season, but in the second half he's easily been one of our better players. He has had a few bad games, granted, but who hasn't?
I think Herrera has been more impactful that Blind, but I'm happy to have both
Welbeck fluffing up so many attacks has been the most disappointing. Ramsey's underperformed, starting to get bored of seeing Mertesacker on the team sheet and Ozil's form has been overrated as well.
Herrera's been quite a good player on balance
I wasn't expecting a world beater though and he's looked comfortable and scored goals.

That's nonsense, Bats. Cesc isn't only the top assister, he's the top chance creator, AND has created the most clear-cut chances - including putting players through on goal more than anyone else in the league. The whole thing about Cesc simply assisting easy set-pieces is a myth. His regression has mostly come in his possession play compared to his Arsenal days. But this has a lot to do with Chelsea's system. And still, he's statistically one of the most efficient passers. Overall, Cesc has still been the best CM in the league this season.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Hes really worked on his defensive game too, second half of the year he was solid defensively. Also scored a few vital goals. Great season all round.
