Actually I do. It might trigger the revolution that football's needed for the last 30 years.

I don’t think “election” is an applicable term for Blatter’s reappointment.

Everyone will go crazy if Blatter is re-appointed. I agree it might be a good thing.

Yesterday was one of the greatest days in the history of football. We might get a Fifa that we deserve. Blatter will end up going. It's ridiculous to think he'll survive this.

They should suspend the vote, surely there's a very high chance that every candidate is either directly corrupt or has at least known what was going on but kept quiet.

FIFA needs dismantling and all FIFA comps suspended until further notice.

People just need to accept nothing is gna change. All these big corporations worldwide are all on one big massive gravy train. Everyone ends up jumping onto them in the end. They dont care who they screw over. Its noble to try and think it will change but naive at the same time too.

Also waiting for statements of condemnation from sponsors is laughable. They were in on the whole thing all the time along with the FIFA members. Any statement they do put out is meaningless guff. They really really do not give two hoots, just as long as they get the FIFA contract to promote their brand.

That's why I said i hope Blatter gets re-elected just to see everyone in here get their knickers in a twist again.

Mr Chelsea

I agree nothing would have changed prior to the Swiss/US investigations but the likes of Visa (one of Fifa’s biggest commercial partners) will not remain loyal to a brand/body that is directly associated with money laundering, fraud and corruption.

It would be disastrous for their reputation, and global worth.

Mastercard will join up in that case

Why on earth would people want Blatter to stay?!

Mastercard used to be a main sponsor, you were forced by FIFA to use one of their cards to buy tickets for the 2006 WC.

Blatter's convinced the rest of the world that Europe hates FIFA because they're spreading the WC around different continents, that's the only reason that I've heard so far when ppl defend Blatter

Even if the sponsors withdraw for purely selfish reasons it'll soon be in their own interests to do so

You realise that there are other sponsors waiting to take their place right?

Other sponsors who will probably pay less money as a consequence of the poor press?

To headline a world cup, no chance. At the end of this all, the status quo remains the same.

People get richer, that will never change

So there will be no negative effect on the price of sponsorship? I find that hard to believe. The sponsors will want the best deal they can negotiate and this gives them more leverage collectively.

What business (that has any ambition of positively promoting their brand) is going to associate themselves with corruption, money laundering, bribery, and corruption?

HSBC, Barclays, Goldman Sachs, Mastercard, VISA, etc.

They are all facilitators. You guys are incredibly naive.

Have you read the statements from the sponsors?

Pay special attention to the language they have used. Sufficient room for manoeuvring

Don't see what's naive about that. It assumes that the sponsors are self interested entities, which they are.

ManUtdDaredevil

There is nothing naïve about a multi-million dollar worldwide business wanting to disassociate itself from an organisation that facilitates criminality (eg Visa).

Given the inner dealings between Fifa and their commercial partners are going to be exposed to the world’s media, there is even more of a reason for them to cut all ties with Fifa.

A financial institution that continues to have a business relationship with an organisation guilty of money laundering and fraud will have no option, (also considering their regulatory requirements) to withdraw support.
