Cumberbatch is one of my favourite actors, only reason I watched Power of the Dog but it was dull, slow, overly-long rubbish. Poor guy deserves better.

Both are the sort of nothing films where all that concerns the people making it is how they can make the lead actors and director win and Oscar, storyline, and even the facking point of the film aren’t important. Why would you waste 2 hours telling us nothing. So pointless. It’s not without merit, cinematography was lovely, but 1917 has astonishing cinematography and it TELLS A FACKING STORY. It’s like they forget people want a bit of escapism and a tale

No idea how you can sit through there will be blood and conclude that it didn't have a tale or tell you anything.

It’s a dull movie. That’s the problem. It’s not a bad movie in that it’s well acted and has some great cinematography, it’s just that it’s incredibly boring. Yet it’s lapped up by critics, who forget most people want to be entertained not bored. My main problem is that it’s regarded as a top critical pick, but I find very little to back that up. It’s an exercise in movie waaaanking by the makers, who’s heads are too far up their own arrrses to realise it’s a pointless film

Is 1917 mostly cgi? Can’t say I recognised any, maybe the plane bit. They tracked those guys using a complicated rig for the most part. Whether cgi or not the French town on fire is one of the most haunting and greatest scenes I’ve ever seen, imagery of burning crosses, the futility of it all was breathtaking. They could repeat that over and over for 2 hours and it would still be far better that twbb

People like different things from movies Baz tard.
Many people like different things from different movies.
There are more things to appreciate in films than just escapism and adventure.
I didn't like TWBB all that much the first time, but rated it very highly the 2nd time.
As long as everyone can find stuff they like then I guess it's all good.

Fair enough, thiugh I would say it’s so well done I didn’t notice it, and that for me is excellent film making. Now on twbb, it’s well put together but the ingredient it massively misses is any sense of entertainment and story.

It does contain a story though

Explain why you think it’s great then.. story comes down to, arrrsehole driller has opposition to his plan, finds another way, nothing much happens along the way.
