Something killed the dog though. I don't understand how it's being reported as no foul play and if it was a gas leak or suspected gas leak then why isn't that being reported ?

The most likely turn of events if it wasn't an accident is Hackman dying from natural causes, the wife then killing her dog before killing herself from grief. Don't know why the dog had to die in that scenario though.

That’s the assumption I’ve made. I would say that she killed the dog in the misguided belief that the dog wouldn’t want to live without them.

The day after the AAs is unlikely to be a coincidence I guess.

Mind you Whitney's mom died the day after a network tribute show last year and there was nothing suspicious. Likely she just kept herself going to see that and then let go.

Maybe Gene was the same wanting to see another Oscars and then his wife killed herself when he died.

gas leaks are not deemed as suspicious, that wouldnt be a crime just an accident.

Gas leaks can be intentional though. So until a gas leak is deemed accidental it would have to be investigated as suspicious.

no it isnt , its treated as non suspicious until they find evidence that suggests tampering or intent then it would be changed to now treated as suspicious.

much like innocent until prove guilty, its treated as non suspicious util reason to think otherwise.

It's all theoretical right now. Gas leak is just something being put forward here to attempt to explain it. Unless there's an update we have no more information but it's strange how little information has been released. Surely they'd have just issued a statement that there'd been a gas leak or carbon monoxide poisoning for example if that's what happened.

Gene Hackman was old as hell and he looked extremely frail so the likeliest answer is that he just died naturally. How the wife and dog died would therefore be the big question.

I don't think anyone particularly wants to think that's what happened, but two people are dead as well as a dog so something caused them all to die. In Hackman's case old age is a likely reason.

although i earlier pretty much dismissed it, i'm coming back to
- he died
- she ODd
- the dog stayed by her side or couldn't get out

in fact I think that's starting to become clear now.
