----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'd say worse because the mystery and general ambiguity made alien-Alien while also be helmed by the original director who has a far greater back catalgue than Lucas.
Also, in comparison with Scott, although Lucas's Star War prequels were poorly executed, both narratively and visually, there is no added sense of pretentiousness. They're, poor or otherwise, still family/kid movies. While also being there to sell toys.
Ironically the more serious Scott gets with his Gods and Monsters theory, both literal and metaphorical, the more laughable it is.
Especially when one is applying it too, though well executed, a slasher movie in space with blatant B-movie hallmarks.
Lucas got a bit pretentious when it came to the politics on Coruscant

Least we can expect him to be good in Edge of Tomorrow 2
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Edge of Tomorrow was surprisingly brilliant, but not so sure about making a sequel
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If you make a good first movie i will give your sequel a chance. Your right though obvious concerns around what they can do next
----------------------------------------------------------------------
With you 100% there
Edge of Tomorrow was good I agree, watched it on Sky as a last minute decision and wasn't really expecting much, really enjoyed it.
Can't see where a sequel can go from there, but I'm happy to find out.
I personally feel that the recent Alien films have been over criticized tbf, maybe because the originals were too good
With Ref to the cryotube, I mean aren't things ever allowed to go wrong in the future?
Look at Grenfell tower.. If you saw that in a film you would say that would never happen in 2017!
People are stupid and make stupid arrogant decisions and you only have to look at the state of our country/world to see it with your own eyes
I thought the whole point of the Alien franchise was to point out of how stupid of a race we are in a disaster movie context?
My reference to the Cryo-tube in the begining ( and *spoilers* the end ) is the fact there isn't a safe release button inside the pod.Once you're in you cant get out.Your depandant on someone on the outside letting you out. They're pretty much death-traps if something goes wrong and I find that extremely stupid.
But I found that whole situation at the begining of the film to be unnecessary.

Looks good anyway
Going to see Dunkirk tonight at the IMAX
"I thought the whole point of the Alien franchise was to point out of how stupid of a race we are in a disaster movie context?".... ?...
Call me simple, but I thought it was about this beast going round killing people..
But on the flip side, it is a film, and well we can be accused of over analysing.
But you can't show a film where every decision is the right one, and all the little attention to details have been thought out, especially in an action sci-fi fantasy film.
Where's the fun in that.
We give some of the greatest films a pass for their flaws, because overall it was well done. And we had a great time.
Star Wars, Death Star comes out of hyper speed right behind another Planet?!
I mean someone had to type those coordinates into the Navi- computer?
Die Hard, so the bad guy pisses you off and to try and stop him, you decide to drop copious amounts of C4 down a lift shaft of a high rise tower...?! (That's your plan?!)...
The cryo-tube scene, I don't really have a problem with, as Sir Ridders plays it's 'through' line.
You can't open it from the inside.
If it was a one time scene, I think you can say it's stupid, but I think it works well in the context of the story.
*Spoilers*
Fire incident, Guy can't open tube. Dies.
Crew find new planet, and say screw going back into the tube. They see it as a death trap.
The only one who wants to go back in, well, eventually goes back in... and now is trapped.
You may want to rename the film, Alien Convenient.
But it is what it is, Now whether that's just lazy writing or genius, comes down to execution imo.
I've already forgotten the film. It was average at best.
A shame.
