Fack me, that was an intense six hours last time, seemed to offend every Centrist Dad on here who saw it as a masterpiece.

Can I comment on a film here?
PC gone mad.

Blackadder's finale is a classic.
I think an excellent finale really is the exception to the rule, most shows disappoint or go stale towards the end.

Robert Pattinson was a lot of fun in Tenet, I enjoyed his Christopher Hitchens impression very much
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I thought he'd be in the film more regularly tbh, it was like he made small cameos throughout.
Now on Tenet - what a disappointment that was!
Theres a lot I do quite like about it. the music was pretty decent and interesting at times. However, like a lot of Nolan movies the dialogue just resolves around explaining the plot and discussing the themes.
Many of the twists and turns I found to be pretty cliche or obvious. Though, I did really enjoy watching the spectacle in how time was used throughout the film.
But like Martial and NPE have stated, with all the sound and general speediness of the plot - there was a lot going on which was confusing. Particularly, with the internal logic of the film!
Overall, this movie was a bit of a mess. It presented a really cool idea but unpackaged it really poorly. It's mostly just spectacle over real substance. It could have really explored some of the deeper themes of causality, time, destiny but instead spent it's time making a confusing/complicated plot.

Oh no, Nolan hasn’t doesn’t have sound issues again does he? Man, still want to see Tenet, but totally agree, with him and sound in his films.
Very odd, if you know you are gonna make those choices, why still do it...
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Basically, Nolan is insistent on a sound mix for his movies that mainstream audiences will understandably hate because it often reduces the audibility of dialogue.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I thought it was particularly bad for this film.
Inception and Interstellar were understandable. This was just atrocious.
I did really like the performances of Washington, Pattinson and Branagh.
I didn't really care at all for Debicki's character.

Ah, I actually was a little emotional at the end with the "reveal".

Yeah, now that part I actually got!

The best performance for me was from Elizabeth Debicki, she is extremely talented. I remember seeing her first on the Night Manager with Tom Hiddleston a few years back and she played her part perfectly.
And who knew Gilderoy Lockhart could play a mad Russian arms dealer?!

Nolan has never really expressed or elaborated on any of the ideas or themes he has in a movie, beyond how they effective the ongoing narrative of the characters.
He isn't interested in the philosophy of an idea, or its wider political and social ramifications, or even in exploring the rules of a concept - he only cares about how the idea relates the developing/enveloping story at hand.
His main interest is essentially in consuming you in a kind of whirlwind of noise, spectacle and drama as if you are constantly walking within the eye of a storm, watching everything swirl around you.
I think he is one of the most talented directors in the modern history of movies when it comes to evoking feeling through spectacle and summarising a concept with visual information - like in Tenet with the wall of bullets or the un-collapsing building.
The only real exceptions to this style and approach to film-making are Interstellar and his Dark Knight movies.
He is also, in my opinion, very astute at writing a layered narrative with lots of shocks and big moments, and he is also a very gifted set-piece writer (there are lots of individually great scenes in his movies).
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well in this movie the central character's motivations rely on these concepts. They are also constantly delivering exposition throughout, but unfortunately a lot of it is intelligible due to the audio.
I feel the film would have done better to explore these ideas, through a character which actually has been developed. If we are exploring freewill then I believe it should have done it through the eyes of Debicki's character - who has the most at stake in claiming her freedom. The problem is that these concepts largely only involve the two good guys chasing around the bad guy.
Interstellar isn't perfect with it's themes. However, due to the relationship the protagonist has with his daughter - the nature of time has a very interesting effect to the relationship and characters. Inception does the same thing too.
Whereas in Tenet, there is nothing remotely as substantial or interesting. It's good guys chasing bad guys for the most part.

Just found out (late I know) they are making ghostbusters 3 with most of the original cast. Loved the original, hope they can do it justice

Just got to say if this is at all true then its a very shallow attempt at film making and would probably explain why I'm not such a fan of his.
Goid news. There’s something about those 80’s movies that they just don’t seem to be able to recapture these days, the magic and adventure in the likes of goonies, Indiana Jones, ET, ghostbusters etc...
