I love the Bane voice, and I love how it captured public imagination to the point that everyone did an impression of it holding an empty cup for about two years.

I think Rises is the weakest of the trilogy but I still prefer it to most Marvel films, I like Nolan’s style and direction a lot though.

because it was a silly voice. Those are fun. Doesnt make it the right choice.

Not sure how anyone was meant to take him seriously

Rewatched American Psycho, not as good as I remember although Bale makes it watchable.

That’s a great film, so different from the book which would have been very disturbing of done to the letter. In essence it’s a great satire, highlights were the business card bit where they all looked exactly the same, yet not to the yuppies, and reviewing Phil Collins and Hugh Lewis albums as he prepares to murder prostitutes. love that movie.

Sin City, Hellboy 1&2, Kickass, The Crow, Unbreakable, The Rocketeer, Dredd....just off the top of my head. So yeah, people have done much better than Marvel imo.

Good shout. Loved hell boy, kickass and the crow. The soundtrack to the crow is great, medicine 3 etc...

Only the first Sin City was good. As expected they couldn't keep it going for for too long. Kick ass was excellent but that's more of a comedy than a comic book movie. Shows your scrapping the bottom of the barrel if Kick ass is in your list.

The Crow was also excellent but is a single movie too. Easy to get right. Ask them to try and make Crow 2. See how that goes

Hell boy? Unbreakable? The rocketeer? Dredd? Good movies but you can't be serious mate. Tbh, that list is a bit weak IMO, you just don't want to give it up to Marvel.

They better not try Crow 2 because it will ruin the legacy of the first one. That's the tricky part, where 90% of movies fail. There's only a handful of successful trilogies, leave alone approx 20-30 movies over a period of nearly two decades. People have become a bit arrogant and dismissive of Marvel as if there's a plethora of other options.

No one has even come close to doing what Marvel have done. Continuity over decades of movies, just like in the comic books. It may not be perfect but the bar has been set for the future to improve upon.

Lol so you just think marvel is the bestest and don't want to acknowledge those films are better comic films than marvels. Even 30 Days of Night smashes marvel.

I've acknowledged that there are better stand alone films multiple times mate.

But the Marvel universe is the top of the food chain at the moment. The disparity is so great that I don't see how anyone can argue that they aren't.

Essentially Marvel movies exist to maximise the value of intellectual property in order to maintain Disneys share price. All the actors are corporate mascots for the company to the same extent Mickey Mouse used to be.
-----
And that's capitalism working to improve things. The movie has to be good and people have to like it in order for them to achieve this goal and that's how most things in the world work.

Furthermore, are you saying its different for anyone else? It's all about the money. DC,Marvel and any other are all about the market share and profits. There's really no basis for making out like.Marvel are like this more than anyone else.

They're all the same. Marvel have simply been better at it and therefore more successful.

Not especially accurate. What it tells you is capitalism commodities art and undermines the work of the artist to suit consumers seeking products.
-----
It's a double edged sword. Capitalism improves with the right hand and takes away with the left hand. However, DC, Marvel, they're all operating under similar capitalistic circumstances.

Marvel have just been better at this time, obviously just IMO of course

The fact you our bland movies ad evidence capitalism is improving things is very funny to me

Marvel and DC have a flaw. Comic books, by their nature (for the most part, and I’m aiming this at superhero stories, not all) They are generally predictable nonsense. Hardly ever any surprises, it’s all style over substance . Which is why marvel movies are largely poor. DC’s offerings from what a non comic book reader like me, have tended to be slightly darker, not much, but slightly, and therefore less fluffy.

Which genre of movies is your favourite.

Never mind, it's generally predictable nonseane anyway.

I don't get this argument. If you're not a comic book kind of guy then of course you think like that. It's like when people say one genre of music is sheet, but all genres of music have countless of their own fans that don't think it's sheet.

If I am a reggae fan, I am wasting time going to rock fans to tell them rock music is nonsense, no?
