Rob how can you ask such a daft question.
He was our best player in the first half of the season then he got hit by injury and struggled. Clearly he needed time to adapt to the physicality of the league and lvg playing him all over the gaff did not help. He had a decent season.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He had a decent season? Really? Sorry mate but that's a ridiculous thing to say. We only started moving forward as as team once he was benched.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No we started moving forward because a lot of our players began to find form. You cannot tell me you genuinely think adm was holding us back.
Also the stats do not lie. He was our best player during the first half of the season. You cannot call a player who had a poor second half and a good first half a flop.

He's a casualty of having to rebuild quickly.
Would you be surprised if any of Fell/Mata/Rojo/Blind/Herrera were sold in the next 18 months?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Wouldn't be surprised at all. But AdM supposed to be world class, bets player in CL final and he flopped without doubt after a few good early promising games.
Should have been made for United but no fight it seems
Robb Valencia has been crap for over half his United career, which is longer than ADM has been crap for United (half his United career) but ADM was better in the first half of his.
Also he had the unfair disadvantage of having no time to settle whereas Valencia has been at United for years, he has no excuses he is a bigger flop than ADM.

No Chance. Firstly Valencia cost a fifth what Di Maria cost. Secondly why has SAF, Moyes and now LVG all seen fit to play him. Surely the fans know best ?!
No he has done a job. I am not a big fan of his but over the years has done ok. He isn't world class unlike Di Maria who supposedly is and on RM's form in La Liga and CL final certainly was..
Oh yeah, he's gutless. He wants an easy ride in Paris. But for b.s FFP he would have gone there last Summer.

He would have apparently so why did he come to United then ? He could have stayed at Madrid and put his foot down. Good riddance if he doesn't want to wear the jersey. It was always going to be hard for him to settle and the burglary didn't help but really should have given himself a second season if he is leaving

Yeah, he does a job, for a highly expensive player at the time we bought him...... 'he does a job'
What I am getting at is that I probably wouldn't consider Valencia a flop but he has been no better over his United career (despite many advantages over ADM)
The price tag is exactly what I have been going on about, people have been distracted by the pricetag and as a consequence have magnified everything bad about his performances, much like a certain Ozil at Arsenal...
Who also had a pretty good second season.

The difference is that Ozil wasn't benched for loads of his first season and then chose to leave. ADM didn't try for us as much as he might and Scholes was the first to notice way back in November.
All those other players who mentioned tried for us or arsenal and if it didn't work out it wasn't for lack of trying.
ADM is under contract and if the management really saw a player who wasn't a flop they'd just keep him and would be under no obligation to sell. Instead they're selling after just 11 months. That is a flop.
SAF - Agree Valencia has been bang average over his career. But the price tag is important in the scheme of things. If you are the British transfer record signing you would expect more. As a world class player too. So yes I would have wanted him to stay and shows his worth but he seemed disinterested and if he is leaving seems he had no fight for the challenge. All very very disappointing. So it didn't work and in that sense a flop.
I have never once thought of one of the conditions for being a flop as trying to leave the club?!
Has De Gea suddenly become a worse player know that he wants to goto Madrid?
Obviously he's been a great player for us but is he closer to being a flop than he was previously because he wants to leave?
If your definition of flop includes whether a player wants to leave or not then that's fair enough but it certainly wouldn't be covered by mine. Carroll and Torres were desperate to stay at Liverpool and Chelsea, why did nobody bring that up in their defence when accused of being flops?
Also as I said somewhere else if he gets those stats without trying then I'd love to see what he can do if he does actually try!

He's a rat. His whole family are rats.
Don't know why people are so worked up. We're MUFC. We're bigger than any one player.
We don't need him. Take the money and reinvest it sensibly.
Pedro, Berahino & John Stones would round off an incredible summer for us.
Trying to leave the club after one season. A season where he arrived after winning the CL and starting well for us for a few games. Going from that Leicester goal to being benched for near on 3 months in the league even though he was fit to having sub appearances where he was noticeably awful and then leaving the club after 11 months.
That is a flop. You can't deny that. Club record signing benched for loads of the season during our most important period leaves after less than a year for 25% less than what we paid for him

Us choosing to cut our losses or him choosing to go somewhere else wouldn't make him a flop IMO, might mean a lot of other things but not whether he was a flop or not.
That would come down to the money and the performances, although he has got a lot of excuses for what was actually a decent first season overall. New club, new country, new language, team performing badly, new manager coming into the club and the break in.

And what does this mean in regards to DDG, is he closer to being a flop than he was previously because he now wants to leave?
Not worked up but he has been a flop. Not good enough. School report would read, For such a talented pupil he failed to deliver in nearly every subject, his desire and hunger and focus are sadly lacking. Other pupils with less natural talent have overtaken him due to more will power and working harder. Probably best if he leaves and joins another institution
Same could have been said of many good players who struggled in their first season with a club.
SAF- You might want to create a Flop or Not ? article.
Put it to the vote. Think you will find majority who think his time at United represents a flop.
