What leagues get 4? England, Spain, Germany, Italy?
How do say france/portugal gain 4 places? are they able to overtake anyone, or do they have a max limit they can now reach?

Don't think they've fully announced the details, and i'm a little too depressed to delve into it, but there will still be coefficients, but they are changing up how they calculate them.

Historical success will be incorporated.

Yes there can be changes in who the top 4 countries will be. But France, Portugal and Russia are so far off the top 4 it'd take a monumental shift to have any impact. Its such a biog gap between the top 4 and the rest that you could actually discount one entire years worht of points for any of those top 4 countries, and they'd still be in the top 4.

uefa reckon they'll have all the details on coefficients by the end of the year. In the meantime:


A new system for the club coefficients: clubs will be judged on their own records (deletion of the country share for individual club coefficient unless that coefficient is lower than 20% of the association's coefficient).


Historical success in the competition will also be acknowledged in coefficient calculation (points for previous European titles with a weighted system for UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League titles)

Did have a long reply wrote out with my various thoughts and feelings... but that's gone.

Could still keep everyone up to date with individual team coefficients and other closely run things...

So basically the big 16, with the help of TV pressure, have won.

Can't blame Uefa for doing this. They've been taking it up the 'arris from the big non-EPL clubs for years to get the revenue stream up.
