So in the 4th cl spot race currently this season..
Germany > England = Italy
Roughly is the impression I am getting, although we have bigger points about to drop off whilst Italy have more stronger recent performances.

Yeah kind of.
England have the potential advantage over italy in the CL as they have the chance for 4 teams to go through and accumulate bonus points.
Italy have an extra team in the EL, so could do some damage there if all of them get through to the knockouts.
Russia look to be in a strong place to take a champions league place off of France.
Well, things are getting interesting now!
Cat among the pigeons.
City Win and get the bonus points for qualifying
Juve lose, but bonus points
Utd lose and no bonus points
If Roma beat BATE tomorrow thats both italians through.
Drama
Three English teams through to the knockouts and 2 Italians.
3 english teams in the Europa and 3 Italians. All of whom look good for the knockouts there.
Bonus points galore for England tonight. Game on, but looking good for the premier league right now
Germany > England > Italy
Is this accurate for this season so far then or is England Italy still quite equal?

England have the jump on Italy after tonights games. There are bonus points for qualifying for the CL knockouts. England took the advantage there.
Italy can make up a little ground tomorrow as they have 3 teams playing in the EL, but england will have slightly extended their lead from the start of the season it seems.
england have the edge at the moment.
Update update update!!!!!!
Cheers for the bump admin!
Yup, I'm so excited by this update that I am awake at dawns crack to see the latest numbers.
England squeaking 3 teams through to the KO stage of the champions league has helped them keep Italy at arms length.
If you only got UEFA Coefficient points for performances Man Utd would have gained a lot but unfortunately its only results.
Perhaps we should have more insight into Germany's teams?
We're close to them than we are to Italy.
Some good stats though.

Ok then, a wee quickie just for you.
2 teams into the CL knockouts. Leverkusen into the EL and Monchengladbach gone all together.
That leaves them with 4 teams in EL. 2 in CL.
I suppose it's a fair point that England have just as much chance to jump Germany than Italy do England.

If this thread is to accomplish anything other than being the dullest of all time, I want to see Italy go far!
But saying that, I'm in this for the long haul
Things will really heat up when 2011/12 points drop off next summer. By jingo that'll have some affect on the 2018/19 season
Looking at the numbers in the OP it seems Germany have extended their lead over England since the start of the year from 1.4 to 2.7 points.
England's 3.4 point advantage over Italy roughly translates into 10 Italian match victories more than England.
There's still bonus points for qualifying for the 1/4ers semis and finals of both comps but it'll take a monumental collapse from England to lose out from here
Juve and Napoli are Italy only hope in Europe.
I can see Spurs. Pool and United doing well in the EL if they want to. PL clubs need to stop devauling the EL as if we lose our 4th CL spot we could be in trouble.
In an Ideal world all english clubs will get to the Semi Finals with 1 going to the Final and losing to Dortmund with arsenal obviously winning the CL

How did Dawn feel about this?
Interesting draws this morning that add a little spice to the increasingly thrilling race for Coefficient points.
Gent (BEL) v Wolfsburg (GER)
Roma (ITA) v Real Madrid (ESP)
Paris (FRA) v Chelsea (ENG)
Arsenal (ENG) v Barcelona (ESP)
Juventus (ITA) v Bayern (GER)
PSV (NED) v Atlético (ESP)
Benfica (POR) v Zenit (RUS)
Dynamo Kyiv (UKR) v Man. City(ENG)
Italy got a rough draw here. Chances of getting any significant amount of point, let alone the bonus point for getting through, look slim.
England, you would say have the upper hand here and a great chance to not only keep italy at arms length, but even extend the lead and try to solidify for next season.
Tie of the round, from a coefficient nerd perspective is undoubtedly Benfica v Zenit.
Russia have been hunting down the Portuguese and French. With only 0.2 points separating Portugal and Russia, this is the chance for the eastern europeans to pounce.
At the same time PSG don't have it easy (don't laugh ). The champions league just got a whole lot more interesting for me, who in all honesty, doesn't really watch much other than the final or the odd semi.
Europa league will now come into its own both from a footballign perspective and a coefficient point of view. get through this round and the bonus points are handed out.
Valencia v Rapid Vienna
Fiorentina v Tottenham Hotspur
Borussia Dortmund v FC Porto
Fenerbahce v Lokomotiv Moscow
Anderlecht v Olympiakos
Midtjylland v Manchester United
Augsburg v Liverpool
Sparta Prague v Krasnodar
Galatasaray v Lazio
Sion v Braga
Shakhtar Donetsk v Schalke
Marseille v Athletic Bilbao
Sevilla v Molde
Sporting Lisbon v Bayer Leverkusen
Villarreal v Napoli
Saint-Etienne v Basel
On paper you would have to favour Utd and Liverpool to get through.
Italy however, have gotten a difficult set of ties. While I'd fancy Napoli over Villareal, anything is possible there. Lazio have a tough one.
Fiorentina vs Spurs though is the big one. A straight up knock out between two competing coefficient warring teams. Both usually in and around the champions league places in their leagues, so this game has extra importance for them.
in the France/Portugal/Russia fight, its looks a great draw.
Porto v Dortmund looks ominous for Portugal. With the Zenit v Benfica tie in the CL, this is a dangerous draw for Portugal if they want to hold off the Russians. Braga v Sion could be huge for Portugal.
Saint-Etienne v Basel and Marseille v Athletic Bilbao leave France vulnerable too.
Sparta Prague v Krasnodar and Fenerbahce v Lokomotiv Moscow on paper look a little better than Frances fixtures and way better than Portugals.
Even having an extra team still playing, I reckon Portugal are in trouble here.
I'm on the edge of my seat here.

You should be. A man of your distinction, what with the cheese club and spreadsheet and all should appreciate the complexities of a good coefficient battle.
Just imagine being able to enjoy Benfica v Zenit on more levels of appreciateion than other, knowing that there could be between 0.5 and 0.6 coefficient points on the line.
the future of Ligue 1 as a viable destination for footballers could rest on that one game
the future of the portuguese league I mean of course.
