Is it really that bad?

Man Utd are playing the same time as us.

The worst we could be with a win is actually 7th, 2pts off 4th.

While results may be 'as expected', performance will always be taken into account in determining mood, and our performance save for about 45-60 mins of football in 6 matches has been eyewateringly ugly, a continuation of our pathetic end to last season.

To be optimistic you have to have some hope that when the harder games come you feel we have a chance of winning them.

I don't see how anyone can have that optimism based on our results in the last 14 months, our general record away from home in the bigger games under Rodgers, and our general level of performance in the majority of our games over that 14 month period.

If you can be optimistic then good for you, but I can see why the majority don't share that view.

If ceefax was still on bbc I'd rather watch us play there. Our football is horrendous and the manager has gone away from his so called philosophy. We might catch today with a win but will it just paper over cracks or will we finally play to our actual potential?

We need a good win with some cohesive football and a pattern of play that looks like if is transferable to other games.

We haven't seen that yet and until we do then people will be largely negative (realistic).

Come on rap and righteous.

It's a game of football, at home, to Norwich plus it's Sunday morning!

Get the first goal and we'll win this game I reckon. Big Bentekers, little Cout the magician, Sakho could start, Moreno played okay, Milner rested, Lallana back. I don't wanna get all gb but I think we'll win.

Football must be a burden to some!

At the end of the day you two can't lose. Either your team wins or you're one step closer you what you want.

West Ham doesn't even look that freakish a result now does it.

I think there is consensus among most fans. Not greatly happy with the results, very disappointed with the style of play, just bewildered and the continuing inability to defend.

Rodgers is on the thinnest of ice with the fans.

As for 4 very winnable games....I think a lot of our confidence in the team is so low such that no single game is seen to be 'very winnable' never mind 4 in a row

I believe I have given the reason why it's still not too late to turn things around. Whether it's right that a manager should be betting all his chips (and his job) on one player, Sturridge, striking up a good partnership with Benteke is another matter. But if they do hit it off, then it wouldn't be the first time that a top strike partnership has carried a team.

Get Sturridge back, and keep him fit for any length of time, and well challenge for top 4, if not, then well struggle.
Next two home games are crucial, with away games to spurs and everton next up after those.

I think we will win today as well but I'm not assuming it and I don't think we will play very well.

Don't mistake my mood on here regarding football as synonymous with my mood in life generally.

I'm not sad enough to let blokes kicking a ball about ruin my weekend.

Also, you are assuming Rodgers sees Sturridge and Benteke as a pair.

He has barely played two up front for the last 14 months at all.

I think it's more likely Sturridge will be played wide of Benteke in a front 3.

He's played a two everytime he has two strikers of quality, or perceived quality, be that SAS or when Mario and Studge were fit at the same time.

No-one is going to drop the likes of Coutinho to fit in Borini.

Front three/two doesn't really make much difference. You're splitting hairs to win an argument. Even if we played a two up front, we'll still have Coutinho or Firmino in very close support.

Well, judging by his comments yesterday, in regard to the players needing to be more adventurous, and take more risks to get goals, then hell look like a real t0$$er if he has Benteke and Sturridge fit and available, and decides to play Sturridge out wide.
At the end of the day, he got nothing to lose, and might as well go out with bang, trying to make things happen, than getting sacked playing it safe.

People may dislike br or like him but one thing is we wall want lfc to win. That does not mean though people can not object to br methods and tactics etc. I personally feel he is not good enough in the long run.

He needs to win the next two league games.

Today is massive, another poor performance and dropped points and I think I will join the growing chorus of fans who want him out.

Yes, the fixture list has been very unkind, but today the team needs to step up and beat a team we should (on paper) be beating.

Our form over that 15 games in the league has been woeful. I want him to keep his job, but the players he has bought need to start producing and justifying the fee's paid. This has to start today.

If we fail to win today I think the pressure will mount and ultimately he may lose his job in the near future.

Glass half full guy that I am, I believe we should wait until Sturridge has had a run of at least ten games before we get the knives out for Rodgers.
----------------
I would hope a manager who has spent well over 200 million pounds wasn't so reliant on a player who is slightly injury prone and its not exactly like hes a Messi, Ronaldo, Robben, Neymar, Suarez level player.

If Rodgers is that reliant on him then we are quite fecked.

5 games played, 3 goals. One was offside and the other 2 were fantastic individual efforts.

That's my concern and why I'm not even overly confident of beating Norwich. We don't look a threat.

I'm not going to see the game today because I'm off to watch Argentina play NZ but when I check the scores it'll be with hope rather than expectation. That's where my level of confidence in the team is right now - hopeful but not much more.

All of this really. I'm not too concerned about last season but this is a game we should be winning and I expect us to.

He took a risk midweek, a brave one, and for me it paid off but it also leaves no excuses for today.

We must win today.

posted on 20/9/15

Just to add though if we do win today then we'll be in good shape. Every season under BR we have gone on a long run of results. I believe this can happen again, why wouldn't I, so if we can get ourselves into a decent position and then produce 10-15 results on the bounce as we have before then we can get what the board, and fans, want.

Apart from that's not actually true.

Before the diamond which didn't appear until about January of 13/14, we regularly played with either Suarez or Sturridge coming from a wide position.

So what you mean is he has played two up front for about 4 months in 3 and a bit years (not to mention the fact he bought most of the strikers he deemed not good enough to ever play as a striker in a pair).
