I think this clears it up nicely.

I say "us" / "we" sometimes but prefer to use the club seeing as, even though I support it, I have not stake in the club. If I owned even one share (as if that'd ever happen!) I'd be happier saying "we" / "us"...

how funny that even exists.

What's the result or it? as I can't listen at work.

That said, I do say 'we' and 'us'. As said previously - I tend to only refer to the club as 'United' when talking with someone who doesn't know who I support - generally if you're talking to a cabbie or something.

I'm with Greg on this one.

Probably out of laziness. Which is the same as using pronouns on other occasions. "It's his" instead of "it's Barry's"

I don't suddenly think I'm embedded in the club's fabric when I say it.

Basically Mitchell decides that because he likes Raiders of the Lost Ark, he was in it.

I tend to say "we". Liverpool is my home town and the club is part of the community and my family life.

Similar question I’ve often thought about…..(not sure if mentioned in thread)

Do you say (your club) are or is? I guess it comes down to do you see your club as a collective of elements or something that transcends that in its own entity?

The club are signing xyz

The club is in trouble.

Guess it's about participles.

Not suprising a man it'd fan does use "we" or "us" most fans are very detached from that club, whilst eating there prawn sandwiches.

Yet, for me, if you replace 'The club' in both of those with the name of the club - they both become 'are'.

Depends.

Arsenal were garbage when they played Olympiakos.

We gave United a spanking though

Always. We. and. Us.
Much to french families amusement.

When its positive its 'we' and 'us'.

When its negative its 'the club' and name dropping and what not.
