Some of the figures I'm seeing here for a Travel Agency are a little bonkers. I'm struggling to see how one agency could be making enough to pay out multiples of millions in commission alone.
Is everyone that desperate to get out of Australia?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Ok do a google search to see how much profit Flight Centre made last year, it was $367m, go check it out
A lot of people have money here, we get paid a ton more than in England, minimum wage is $17.58/hour last time I heard. A lot more than £5.85 or whatever it is now! People have money and they like to travel!

No you're the idiots that don't get it!
I don't get paid per booking!!!!! Every booking will earn comm, some $50 some over $6k, and at the end of the month we transfer the commission we earnt for the company and a week later they pay us a fraction!
+++++
So you buy flights for 11k, sell them for 15k and make 6k which is 40% in your pocket
Your company must run at a loss
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I said on that booking but you assume you that's just flights and don't think to consider accommodation, tours and three months insurance

I once posted a sale of £200,407 on a 7 year round the flight trip, which the airline originally quoted the customer a figure of £208,352 for the lot. As I was offered the deal at £146,229, I could push the price up to the customer to the £200,407 and took the rest in profit for the company. The additional cost of add-ons meant that I got a 38% commission from my company, plus a finders fee that I got because I found the airline client and then agreed a partnership for future revenue deals and thus earnt over £110k in one sale alone. That was just a standard Monday.
I think I've just demonstrated that it's pretty easy to confuse people with figures enough that they stop caring to ask about absolute nonsense.

'Pre-Tax'. When you're earning those figures, it's going to be highly taxed. That's also across over 2,500 agencies globally, bringing in an average profit of £146,800 per office. Why would they be paying Lynne in your department £50k a month in commission if the office only brings in £146,800?

And what is this fraction as a percentage on the overall booking cost?

Depnds who is getting the sales. Lynne seems to be earning way more than their resident genius which is still a puzzle

I have explained why before but clearly your IQ is below average because you haven't grasped it yet, even though I have mentioned it several times.
The reason why she earns so much is because she has worked in the same store for 12 years and has a huge amount of repeat business. She has been booking families for years and is now booking trips for their kids. She has a phenomenal amount of business and she cares about her customers. Simple as that. She is the first to admit she hasn't travelled that much and her geography isn't that great and she booked someone to the wrong airport in the wrong continent once but she fixed it and the customers went back to her and booked again.
