Hafi - All driving instructors see a student as being worth ''X'' amount and tailor the lessons based on that and not skill or how quickly you pick it up

My FIL had his own driving school, HGVs, bikes and cars. His kids passed first time as he taught them himself and it was within 10 lessons

His approach was to take them out in an automatic first to focus just on getting over driving on a road without the whole clutch and gear control to worry about

The clutch and gear controls he would teach in a day or two in a car park

My kids have instructors and this whole 8 lessons and finally in 3rd gear is BS

My driving instructor told me to pull over somewhere safe.

Two minutes later he said, "Why haven't you pulled over yet?"

I said, "Because we're still in Manchester."

He certainly taught you to park.

What were your possession stats Hafi?

Did you maintain possession of the car until the final whistle, or did the instructor/Dad have to take control?

My guess is like utd , you had over 60% possession

Am I right?

That's how my old man taught me, drove around for a week or so in the automatic so I got used to feeling what a car should do on the road and cornering etc, then put me in a manual and taught me the gears. You can learn to drive in two weeks, then it's just driving all the time to get good and become confident.

You won't feel confident until you've passed and you're driving on your own, that's when the real learning starts. How on earth did you stay in 1st

Thank god the theory bollox wasn't around when i was learning!

Was the car you used located in a shopping precinct and only worked after you inserted 50p?

Great story Hafi.

How about United today. Unlucky again?

GT yes UL again but it is the norm until we buy a decent striker and a creative midfielder.

I thought I would be too scared to drive but it is quite fun Its easy to position car in a safe place but hardest part will be keeping distance to parked cars on side.

posted on 23/1/16

I think the hardest part will be getting the car through the MOT by the time you've finished with it
